BlogActive will 'out' Hastert staffer on Monday..and every Monday.
Edited on Sat Oct-07-06 10:55 AM by kansasblue
"So.... Beginning Monday, and every weekday thereafter, I will be identifying the name of a closeted senior staffer in Congress with the hopes that those investigating this matter will make sure to include them in their questioning. And I hope the press looks for them as well. It's time to rid the government of those that would harm us."

8. See the sad thing is....

I feel this is all being misdirected...This scandal isn't about being GAY or being GAY in DC, or hiding the fact that you are GAY in DC...it's about pedophilia...it's about misusing a position of TRUST and POWER over others, UNDERAGE others...to do them harm....it's about ABUSE damn it...and ABUSE of TRUST...
so WHY is this being turned into an outing party?

Look, I can understand GAYS being sick and tired of those hiding in gov't that knowingly help hurt their cause, either with their silence, or with help in passing bills against them...and I personally don't know/understand how they could be a party to it...I do get it...I just don't get why the IMPORTANCE of this whole story about the pages is being lost...and why anyone would play a part in undermining it, or helping muddle it...

IF this turns into a witch hunt...it is going to HURT others...and not the ones that need to be hurt by this scandal...Those less than honorable GOVERNMENT SERVENTS that abused their power...the ones people sent their UNDERAGE kids to serve in DC...Is it possible this guy thinks that the closeted gays in DC were in on it all along??? Just because you're gay, doesn't mean you're a pervert who goes after kids....he does his own kind a great disservice, if he is insinutating that, w/o knowing for a fact, it's true...

Do we think there are NO gay Democrats??? How horrible is this going to get before it's over...??? I begin to wonder, IF the R's didn't sacrifice one of their own, Foley...in order to get the Democratic gays outed/targeted...because we can bet our asses, that if someone starts outing the Rep gays....it is going to end up being tit for tat...let's hope we are above the fray on this...and not involved in any of the abuse of pages...for myself...I don't like this...I don't like the feeling it's giving me...

10. I hear you...
...and it is a distressing aspect of this scandal.

However, remember that gay Republicans, especially those who work for House members, are enabling a party that came into power by bashing gays. So there is the hypocrisy aspect. Also, remember that the staffer who went to Hastert early on was gay, as was another staffer who backs his story -- in other words, there are gay staffers who can honestly say they did what they could, but Hastert sat on it.

Another thing to remember, is people aren't buying their sping anymore. It's like, a big wind came howling through the halls of Congress and just whipped the curtains right off. When Drudge suggests it's the pages' fault, when Hastert and others try to go on the offensive and say it's the Democrats who didn't tell -- people just aren't going for it. And they are continuing to flail wildly, wondering why the tricks that have been so successful for them for the last 6 years (at least) just aren't working anymore. The rug's been pulled out from under them, and they have no clue what else to do, because they are SO used to people going for it and the media propping them up.

Anyway -- yes, the gay aspect is a risk. We all should be arming ourselves with facts and figures to combat the hateful rhetoric, and also to point out that those who have been guilty of taking hush money from child predators, are the same people who deny the right to marriage to gays.

12. Bigger than the coverup - is the thread of corruption
Why didn't anyone take serious action against Foley? He is a big fundraiser - raising big bucks for the RNCC (the $100,000 to Reynolds from Foley's PAC didn't end up being a big story because Foley's PAC regularly gave that much money, as well as big $ to individual congressional campaigns.) Have to keep the gravy train rolling.

This is the same reason that Bob Ney went down. Not because he was taking personal bribes (ala Duke) - but because he was seeking big bucks for his PAC, that he could then give to other repubs seeking election/reelection. Why was this important enough for Ney to raise this money for something other than his own reelection? Because of the system put in place by Tom Delay - that doled out key committee chair positions based on how much $$ was given to support the election of other republicans, rather than based on seniority or experience - as had previously been the case.

This is just a very, very ugly episode in an ongoing bigger story of a corrupt system set in place by the GOP leadership that was inevitable in setting folks up for corrupt behavior - as the stakes for how much money that had to be earned in order to get plum positions was ratcheted up far past the huge amounts of money needed to simply run their own reelection campaigns.

13. You can bet....
if there were a gay Democrat that was hitting on pages, he would have been outed this past week. Instead we watched the GOP leadership scrambling like cockroaches and blame the media, CREW, and even the pages. The fact that a week has gone by and not one Dem has been included in this scandal, tells me there's no there, there.

Secondly, Democrats aren't ashamed to say they're gay...republicans on the other hand are mostly in the closet because of their base vote. If the fundies knew how many gays worked in the republican party, they'd stay home in droves and not vote in this election. Gay republicans are also subject to blackmail because they ARE in the closet and pretending to be something they're not.

The republicans have demonized the Democratic party for years because we support equal rights for the gay community. What does that say about the republicans who are gay and supports an agenda that makes an entire community of people second class citizens? I have no pity for these hypocrites.

14. The Gay Old Party Is Gonna Have A Big Coming To Jesus Meeting Soon
Many have been living dirty ugly secret lives for years, the entire time spent ridiculing and stopping openly gay people from sharing basic human rights and dignities. The Manolo Blahnik stiletto is about to drop.

Always use a blog post's permalink so you can find it after it's archived off the home page.

If it's true that the Rethugs are planning raise a stink about Nancy Pelosi marching in the same parade as an 89-year old NAMBLA advocate, I say full steam ahead! BlogActive's policy has always been to out only ANTI-gay gays, and facilitating child sexual predation is as anti-gay as you can get!
