Question About Filling Out Voter Registration |
My daughter is shaving it very close in getting her voter registration in the mail here in PA. She's just doing a change of address, she's already registered. Here's the problem: she's moved alot in the past ten years and she doesn't remember where she lived when she originally registered. If she puts the wrong address will she be denied voting in our precinct? Z'm figuring, but I don't know for sure, that every state is a little different. Or maybe this one is consistant with any state. Does anyone have experience with this?

1. can you deliver it in person? |
I don't know how it works in Pennsylvania, but here in my small town in Massachusetts, I'd hand-deliver the application to the town clerk, who could verify my eligibility on the spot. Would that work for you?

2. The last day to do it here is Tuesday |
I guess I could deliver it to my counties (Montgomery County) registration office on Tuesday. That would certainly put my worries to rest. Luckily it's only 20 minutes away. It sucks being a procrastinator. :banghead:

3. Where I live, generally, the wrong previous address would not bar you |
being accepted. That is to help them purge the voter rolls of old names and addresses. I would take it in rather than mail it though. Sometimes the last day to register is a not a "post mark by "date but a "receive in the office" date.

He was able to check his files to see which address in the Philly area she had originally registered and her name was nowhere to be found. She lived in Virginia for a year, so, if this guy's records were thourogh, that must be where she registered from. She doesn't remember that address, just that it was Roanoke. The guy said just write 'Virginia' for 'address of last registration' and it should be fine. He also told me since this Tuesday is the last day to register if I get it in the mail before 4:00 today it will just make it before the deadline. I don't know. I may still deliver it personally on Tuesday.
