From Buzzflash:Stunner: Abramoff Bomb Lands In Karl Rove's Office
Brent Budowsky: Stunner: Abramoff Bomb Lands In Karl Rove's Office, Deputy Resigns

A BUZZFLASH GUEST CONTRIBUTION
by Brent Budowsky

While the House Republican Leadership is embroiled in a sex scandal involving abuse of young Congressional pages and coverup issues, the White House is now embroiled at the epicenter of the Jack Abramoff lobbying and corruption scandal with the abrupt and surprise resignation of Karl Rove's Deputy, on the eve of a national election.

Details are only now emerging about the resignation of Susan Ralston, Rove' deputy, with long term ties to Abramoff and major questions now begin.

A Congressional Committee has already put the number of Abramoff contacts with the White House at well above 400, at least. This means the Abramoff-White House relationship in this corruption scandal are only beginning to come out, with investigators and journalists now hot on the trail and more breaking news is no doubt coming soon.

For Karl Rove's deputy to resign so close to a historic election is a shocker of the first order in official Washington, leaving the strong suggestion that more news is imminent on Ms. Ralston's situation. While it would not be fair to her to draw conclusions at this point, to resign at this critical moment is virtually unprecedented in this or other Administrations, and strongly suggests the coming days will bring new revelations.

2. Well, Ralston resigned...undoubtedly to distance herself from
Rove and to give Rove some cover...but why? What did she do and what blame is she accepting to cloak Rove? Anybody know? She used to be Rove's secretary, I think and Rove hired her on Abramoff's recommendation.

3. Gee, now who's going to screen Rove's calls
and get pre-approval from Grover Norquist?

So, how come Grover gets a free ride?

8. I'm thinking Grover Norquist got a free ride to the veterinarian...
to be neutered. I understand he still has his weekly power meeting, and all that, but I question if anyone is even listening. Have you seen his name in the news lately other then being mentioned in the back stories? Has he been interviewed or even said anything that has made the press?

9. He was in a recent documentary on Abramoff
but all it did was tie him into the same social network and dealings.

13. Bill Moyers' documentry on Abramoff should be mandatory viewing...
for America voters, it was that good.

And as to Norquest, he was featured in it but all the footage was from the can, nothing current. I have not heard or read anything from him of late. Methinks he's sitting in his hidey-hole hoping the storm passes, but will soon come to understand his halcyon days are gone; a footnote or a 'comma' in history.

5. Rachel Maddow said the same thing on Wednesday
That Ralston's resignation at this time indicates that something "bigger" is "coming down the pike."

10. "You Win" Susan wrote to Jack: got his buddies where he wanted 'em
These are the people Casino Jack got placed within the White House/Government.

Pictured left to right: Patrick Pizella (Policy Coordinator for the Bush-Cheney General Services Administration Transition Team. From January 22, 2001 to March 25, 2001, Pizzella served as the Chief of Staff to the Director at the U. S. Office of Personnel Management. Pizzella was appointed by President George W. Bush to serve as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) - a position he held from January 18, 2004 to April 26, 2005)

Susan Bonzon Ralston, (Special Assistant to the President & Assistant to the Senior Advisor Karl Rove, was Jack Abramoff's executive assistant at Preston Gates and Ellis and later at the Greenberg Traurig law and lobbying firm, where "she served as the assistant director of governmental affairs)

David Hossein Safavian (was nominated by President George W. Bush as Administrator, Office of Federal Procurement Policy, Office of Management and Budget (OMB) on January 22, 2004. He resigned Friday, September 16, 2005. Robert A. Burton, OFPP’s associate administrator, took over "managing the office")

Casino Jack Abramoff (former Republican "superlobbyist" and now a convicted and sentenced felon cooperating with federal prosecutors, is the central figure in a web of corruption within the U.S. Republican Party, which will likely be the most far-reaching Washington corruption scandal of recent decades)

At the top of the pryamid none other than Herr Karl Turd Blossom Rove (Republican political strategist best known as President George W. Bush's top advisor. He was appointed as Assistant to the President and Senior Advisor to the President by Bush during his first term.
On April 19, 2006, Rove "gave up his responsibilities as chief policy coordinator, a position he assumed" in February 2005 "that strengthened his influence over matters ranging from homeland security and domestic policy to the economy and national security,"
