Freepers going ape over Pelosi marching with NAMBLA (w/ no evidence!)
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1714533/posts

All sorts of stupidity and jumping to conclusions on this page, but even they know what they're saying is untrue:

"I don't see NAMBLA on the invite list, but this is still bad since, Pelosi is now persecuting Foley and Hasert for not investigating an non sexual email."

2. Oh, I'd say they'd better watch themselves!!
They were overjoyed when they thought they had proof positive that this whole Foley thing was a prank by the teens and an evil Democratic plot: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=364&topic_id=2333696&mesg_id=2334899

They went from glee to dismay in a few thousand posts.

I actually READ the whole thread and summarized it....but I'm not gonna make the mistake of clicking on a link to that site again...it's like fetid quicksand!!! The anger, the hate, and the stupidity are simply overwhelming!

Let them simmer and stew. There's no polishing this turd, they're whistling past the graveyard!

4. Is there any evidence that NAMBLA marches in gay pride parades
at all?

I'm very suspicious of that claim.

7. I'm not clicking on that! But I still don't think they "march" in parades
do they?

I'd be surprised.

8. Did a quick Google
and found that evidently NAMBLA has marched in some parades in the past - but each parade is its own deal and some have allowed them...

BTW, I'm not necessarily a big 'ol fan of the org, but clicking on the link won't hurt you - I came out alive and untarnished, I think?! :) Actually there isn't much there...

15. They used to participate in the NYC gay pride parade.
I don't know if the group fell apart or was dis-invited.

... vice cops seeking predators and neo-con busybodies who want to keep an ear on the "perverts." I remember reading a study in 2002 (no link, sorry) showing that once you eliminate known undercover agents, membership of that group can be counted at... zero.

In short, it is a front group promoted by, endorsed by and membered by right wing moralists.

Added To give some meaningful information, it did exist as a real organization at one time. The original purpose back in the early 70s was to provide honest information on homosexuality (not necessarily sexual information) to young men who were coming out. It came to be dominated by pedophiles, however, and for the 80s it really was the bogeyman that the conservatives still portray it to be. Membership swelled during most of that decade, mostly investigators joining up so they would get access to the group's membership list and newsletter. With the advent of the Internet, IMs, email and other forms of electronic communication, however -- and because of the ham-handed investigations by law-enforcement -- real pedophiles have moved away from such obvious groups and created much more secretive associations, such as the Republican Leadership of the US House of Representatives. Since the late 90s, all (or almost all) NAMBLA members have been investigators, law enforcement and the like, playacting to be pedophiles in an effort to get really, really stupid predators.

SNIP

As a result, the age-of-consent issue became a hotly debated topic within the gay community, and disputes over the age of consent issue within and between gay rights groups — many of which directly or indirectly involved NAMBLA — began to occur on an increasingly frequent basis.

Disagreement was evident following the conference that organized the first gay march on Washington in 1979. In addition to forming several working committees, the conference was responsible for drafting the basic organizing principles of the march ("the five demands" PDF ). Originally, the Gay Youth Caucus had won approval for its proposal demanding "Full Rights for Gay Youth, including revision of the age of consent laws." However at the first meeting of the National Coordinating Committee, a contingent of lesbians threatened not to participate in the march unless a substitute was adopted. The substitute, authored by an adult lesbian and approved in a mail poll by a majority of delegates, stated: "Protect Lesbian and Gay Youth from any laws which are used to discriminate against, oppress, and/or harass them in their homes, schools, job and social environments." <15>

In 1980 a group called the "Lesbian Caucus – Lesbian & Gay Pride March Committee" distributed a hand-out urging women to split from the annual New York City Gay Pride March because the organizing committee had supposedly been dominated by NAMBLA and its supporters. <13> The next year, after some lesbians threatened to picket, the Cornell University gay group Gay PAC (Gay People at Cornell) rescinded its invitation to NAMBLA founder David Thorstad to be the keynote speaker at the annual May Gay Festival. <13> In the following years, gay rights groups attempted to block NAMBLA’s participation in gay pride parades, prompting leading gay rights figure Harry Hay to wear a sign proclaiming "NAMBLA walks with me" as he participated in a 1986 gay pride march in Los Angeles.

Thus by the mid-1980s, NAMBLA was virtually alone in its positions and found itself politically isolated. Gay rights organizations, burdened by accusations of child recruitment and child abuse, had abandoned the radicalism of their early years and had "retreat from the idea of a more inclusive politics," <16> opting instead to appeal more to the mainstream. Support for "groups perceived as being on the fringe of the gay community," such as NAMBLA, vanished in the process.<14> Today almost all gay rights groups disavow any ties to NAMBLA, voice disapproval of its objectives, and attempt to prevent NAMBLA from having a role in gay and lesbian rights events.

to participate in any pride events anywhere these days.

19. Angry, desperate and irrational people.
Instead of blaming other people for Republican scandals maybe they should call on Foley to apologize to his victims.

It might reflect better on them with the public as well. I see from today's poll the deflection, obfuscation and finger pointing has them down to about 35%.

22. I briefly flipped on Insannity's radio show last night
Edited on Sun Oct-08-06 03:17 AM by Fighting Irish
He had on Annthrax and other assorted Hitler Youth members. Scrappy Doo was reading something about a founder of the gay rights movement who allegedly had a thing for young boys. He therefore associated him with NAMBLA, and since there was a march of some sort to honor the guy (who is long dead) and Pelosi was somehow connected to it, he played the usual Rapepublican game of 'six degrees' in connecting Pelosi to NAMBLA.

I was almost in awe of how fast Scrappy pulled all of this nonsense out of his ass. Then I realized that I was losing IQ points every second I listened to that steaming pile of bullshit that he calls a 'radio show' and flipped the radio to something else.
