Next Week IS NOW: Please Read This!
I posted this thread last week and felt it prudent to remind you of the importance of opposing the President's visit to the NSA

Further, as posted by another DU'er, the head of the NSA has revealed to us that he does not have any inkling of understanding the meaning of the Fourth Amendment of the US Constitution.

That thread is here. Thanks to liveoaktx:

(Please keep it kicked, it's a great find!)

________

<snip>
I know that there are literally hundreds of issues that we must focus on in this dire time in American History. However, I feel that this is absolutely the most critical issue for us to focus on and oppose at this time.

Next week, Cheney, Bush, and a gaggle of other douche bags are planning to blitz the media in an attempt to bolster public support for the removal of their first an fourth Amendment rights..

There is a good article about it here:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/uslatest/story/0,,-5559333,00...

On Wednesday, Bush, himself shall make a public visit to the NSA to reinforce his blatant lie pertaining to his supposed "Constitutional authority" to conduct warentless, unregulated, unilateral, and utterly secret wiretaps and spy activities on whomever he sees fit.

Mr. McClellan has deemed it as a "stepping up" of efforts to "educate the American people." Further proclaiming this travesty to be a "critical tool" to protect American citizens.

Well, friends, I am here to say today that if the President's Wednesday "visit" go unabated and without the presence of any overt and blatant opposition by American citizens, it will signify the OFFICIAL turning point of American government from a Democratic government of separate but equal powers to an OFFICIAL FASCIST STATE.

2. I wrote My Senators (Calling, too)... Please Write And Call Yours Today!
Dear Senator Spector, Senator Santorum,

Today, the President is slated to visit NSA headquarters to support his dubious push to mislead the American people in reference to his false assertion that Article 2 of the United States Constitution gives him the executive power to spy on American citizens without oversight or warrant. Further, the administration, including Karl Rove, Alberto Gonzales, Scott McClellan, and many others have been aggressively working to perpetuate this lie, which, if successful would signify the end of the basic rights of citizens under the first and fourth Amendments of the Constitution.

On Tuesday, January 24, 2006, General Michael Hayden, himself, had glaringly revealed his ignorance in reference to our Bill of Rights. During a press conference, when a reporter asked whether the Fourth Amendment “specifies you must have Probable Cause”, Hayden denied it as a base of measure, stating, “The Amendment says unreasonable search and seizure.”
When asked whether the Fourth Amendment in fact included the mandate of “Probable Cause,” Hayden bluntly and swiftly said “No.”

Thankfully, the reporter stated the fact that, “The legal standard is Probable Cause.”

Frankly, this degree ignorance of the context Constitution of the United States by a government official of such high position is appalling at best unacceptable at the very least. Further, it is indicative of the Bush Administration’s blatant delusion and incompetence.

As the President has chosen to directly unapologetically attack my rights as a citizen of this nation, I am compelled to demand that you fulfill your duty to me as my Senator to heed my opposition to this despicable and illegal policy. Despite whether you disagree with my opposition, I feel that you are required to cite and publicly acknowledge my opinion (and the opinions of other Pennsylvanians who share opposition to the President in this matter) because it is the most important attack on my (our) Constitutional freedoms in my (our) lifetime.

And so, on this pinnacle day, I beg of you to once again forgo any political pressure and uphold your oath to uphold the United States Constitution by acknowledging the deliberate criminality of the President’s actions. Should you fail in this matter, you will have failed your citizens, your sworn oath, and the Constitution itself.

I look forward to your taking action on this matter.

Respectfully,

Andrew G Gatto
