No matter what horrible thing happens I can't seem to lose hope even when I want to. As the debate begins I still have hope that there will be a filibuster. I have hope that it will be successful in defeating the nomination. I have hope that the Dems will rise up and fight this battle for the Constititution, the rule of law, checks and balances, and for civil liberties. How many more battles are there before we concede everything? If they don't fight now then when would they? I still have hope that this madness will stop. I hope.

...once you've got an ideologically-driven majority on the Supreme Court. They can simply make up the rules as they go along to keep us in check.

Do the Democrats in the Senate know this? I read their opposition statement yesterday and it gave me hope. Kennedy said that the stakes couldn't be higher. Then why not filibuster? What are they clinging to? I have hope and yet it's hard to keep it.

I don't share your doom and gloom. We don't need negativity right now.
