Actor Chris "Reservoir Dogs" Penn Found Dead at Residence

LOS ANGELES - Actor Chris Penn, brother of Sean Penn, was found dead Tuesday at his condominium near the beach in Santa Monica, police said. Police said they discovered the 40-year-old actor's body around 4 p.m. Lt. Frank Fabrega said there were no obvious signs of foul play.

Sean Penn's publicist, Mara Buxbaum, issued a statement saying that "the Penn family would appreciate the media's respect of their privacy during this difficult time."

Chris Penn's body was found inside the four-story condominium complex after police were called by someone from within the building, Fabrega said.

Penn's body was discovered in a bed inside the residence, located in a four-story condominium complex near the beach on Ocean Avenue in Santa Monica, said Capt. Ed Winter of the county coroner's office. Authorities were called to the condominium complex by Penn's housekeeper, Winter said.

1. Very sad; I thought he was a good, underrated actor,
though I've read he's struggled with drug problems for years.

2. He pulled off the near-impossible in "Dogs"...
...playing Lawrence Tierney's son. That required some precision...to be crazy enough to be believable, but not so over-the-top that he threw off the balance of the rest of the cast. To not make the character "likable," but to generate enough empathy / sympathy for the audience to think "Who the hell would want to be THIS guy?"

Underrated? You bet. Sad? That too. But he did leave something behind of lasting value to be remembered by, which...when you get right down to it...is the best that nay of us can hope to do.

3. Hate to be so harsh
but it's evident he was abusing his body with food, anyone telling me McDonald's isn't worse than a drug pusher is a damn fool. Rest in peace Nice Guy Eddie.

5. I eat at McDonalds at least twice a month and am thinner than I was
in high school. It is all about moderation, self control, and a little bit of exercise.
