I must be living a sheltered life or something but I was not aware of this republican guy who is retiring.

2. The Washington press corps and party circuit KNOW.
What they refuse to be is the first to tell.

Laurence O'Donnell was practically shrieking Denny Hastert is living with his chief of staff but he refuses to say it outright.

Blogactive said it would tell today. Hasn't so far.

5. Hastert?
:grouphug:
I've read that many newbie congress critters room together to save living costs...DC is very expensive and
many don't want to move families there, with children in school, wives' jobs or many other family-home
connections. Besides, they get to fly home every weekend (they're in session only Tu-We-Th) at OUR expense.
But Denny, grown fat in wallet and gut, conjoined with his CoS? - my mind reels! Out the hypocritical bahstuds!

10. Okay, saying it again. Yes, CONGRESSPEOPLE room together.
They are EQUALS. They can yell at each other over toothpaste and toilet paper.

Hastert is rooming with his Chief of Staff. There is no equality in that. Would you live with an employer or an employee? Unless there is something else to equalize the relationship....

The known incidents of Congressmen rooming with their COS are closeted gay couples. And O'Donnell couldn't shut up about it. He KNOWS. He doesn't want to be the first to tell.

7. From David Corn:

"The List" (of Gay GOP Aides on the Hill); Hubris on Bloggingheads.tv
There's a list going around. Those disseminating it call it "The List." It's a roster of top-level Republican congressional aides who are gay.

On CBS News on Tuesday, correspondent Gloria Borger reported that there's anger among House Republicans at what an unidentified House GOPer called a "network of gay staffers and gay members who protect each other and did the Speaker a disservice." The implication is that these gay Republicans somehow helped page-pursuing Mark Foley before his ugly (and possibly illegal) conduct was exposed. The List--drawn up by gay politicos--is a partial accounting of who on Capitol Hill might be in that network.

I have a copy. I'm not going to publish it. For one, I don't know for a fact that the men on the list are gay. And generally I don't fancy outing people--though I have not objected when others have outed gay Republicans, who, after all, work for a party that tries to limit the rights of gays and lesbians and that welcomes the support of those who demonize same-sexers.

9. That is my understanding
that it is Republicans who are threatening to out Republicans. It wouldn't be Dems to out anyone because this isn't a gay issue, it's a sexual predator issue.

at the 2000 Republican Convention when Kolbe was scheduled to speak?
