More bodies found in Baghdad

Baghdad - Baghdad police found the bodies of 35 murder victims scattered around the Iraqi capital on Sunday, many of them showing signs of torture and all shot dead at close range, security officials said.

Earlier, police in Suwayrah south of Baghdad spoke of finding five more victims floating down the Tigris from the city - two of them skeletal remains, three of them beheaded.

The grisly finds came one day after police found 51 bodies in a similar grim harvest and at a time when Iraqi and United Nations officials estimate that more than 100 Iraqis are being killed every day.
