Log Cabin Republican on CNN apologizing in the most NAUSEATING way.
simply incredible

talking about those who are making an issue out of gays, bringing sexual orientation into this, scapegoating gays, will be on the wrong side of history

he's clearly inSANE!

he really said the above, as if it wasn't his own party that's behind 100% behind EVERY measure to make it more difficult for gays to exist in society (not to mention in congress). of course, Leslie didn't pick up on the irony

to be fair, Leslie asked him at the end, several times, if Hastert should resign, and the little pipsqueak refused to answer

this is the worst thing I've seen in all of this

I hope they repeat this segment, but the transcripts are a must

1. Proving once again that being Republican is a disease that takes over
your brain, turning you into something that looks, but isn't quite, human.

4. What's with their name? Log Cabin Republicans?
What does it mean? Do they live in log cabins? Use Log Cabin syrup? Or espouse the good old values of frontier living? WTF?

5. It has something to do with Lincoln, I believe
though whether it has to do with his being the first Republican president or long standing rumors that Lincoln might have been gay, I don't know.

10. Well until we get a candidate who stands up for gay rights...
they have no reason to leave the Repub party.

In 2004, Kerry and Edwards had the same view as Bush and Cheney if you recall...

11. Dean had a different position
As have a lot of Democratic candidates for offices high and low all across the country. I'll take the record of Democrats, candidates and registered voters, on g/b/b/t/i issues, against the Republicans any day of the week.

15. I supported Dean in the primaries...
and realize Kerry and Edwards had to pander but I truly think taking a stand would have got them a few more votes.

12. really sad, isn't it, and my guess is it's going to get worse:
stupid people are going to be even MORE eskeered of them predatory homo seck shules now, because they'll be equating pedophilia with homosexuality

just think how much more difficult it's going to be to stand up against intolerance now

dems are going to have to play the outrage card to win the election

that's probably going to be the most obvious long range fallout of this fiasco: longer time for G/L, etc., to find equality in society (aside from, I hope, change in both houses of congress)

anybody else on this?

haven't seen this discussed here at all

16. Every time I hear about the Log Cabin Republicans...
I'm tempted to send them all t-shirts printed with the phrase "Black Soldiers of the Confederacy." Or possibly just "Jews for Hitler."

17. These Log Cabin people make no sense...
Edited on Mon Oct-09-06 05:40 PM by mcscajun
...they're not welcomed by the gay activist community, many of whom call the Log Cabin crew "traitors", and most Republicans, from prominent national officeholders to state party chairmen, want nothing to do with them at all. Their own party opposes their activities and practically their existence. I just don't get it.

18. There are many factions of each political party...
so it does make sense once you step away from your own perspective. LCRs belong to the liberal/moderate wing of the Republican party usually...yes there is one of those. Just as there is a very conservative wing of the Democratic party.

There are pro-choice repubs and pro-life dems, anti-war repubs and pro-war dems, etc...

Sexual orientation has no bearing on political philosophy. I think accusing someone of being a traitor says more about the accuser than the person being accused.

We are supposed to see repubs as the opposition not an enemy. Of course the extreme RW of the repub party started it and trying to ignore them has caused the mess we are in today. Hell, the repubs themselves ignored them and have lost their party to them...

It will be interesting to see what the fundies and neocons will do...will they form a third party or will they purge the moderate pubs who will have to join the dems or form their own party?

Personally, I see the neocons joining the dems and the fundies realizing the hypocrisy of the leaders they followed and becoming wary.

19. I will never understand Log Cabinettes
Edited on Tue Oct-10-06 09:46 AM by Touchdown
...as long as I live. They somehow believe that they are better than the common riff-raff, and sort of aspire to the cocktail party/cotillian set. Distaste anything "working class", and always talk about tafeta.:puke: Many seem to identify with GOP because Repugs seem to be "higher class" to them. It's strange that they are so into pretending to be the gossipy hat mavens in a Merchant-Ivory film, but are really acting like the first class passengers on the Titanic. :eyes:

Oh' and wait until you get a Log Cabinette to go off on that fictitious "Welfare Mom" who drives a Cadillac, and gets paid $150 a month for pumping out babies, but no mention of how Enron stole Billions. They are just too much.

Give me a poor gay guy who can only afford to take me to Sonic any day over these poseurs.:P
