7. In that second one
she looks as if she's reflecting on all the years she's spent with the loser...failure after failure after failure. And for what? To be the "former" First Lady who was married to the Worst Former President of the US? You know *failure* will be in the first line of both their obituaries.

12. She fell in love with his family name & trust funds.

I don't think she'd have given him the time of day if he had flunked out of Texas A&M and worked at the local gas station. And that's what would have happened to him without his father's connections.

Or maybe it was that she was drinking heavily back then and got married in an alcoholic haze.

13. Perhaps I am hard-hearted
but I don't feel sorry for her at all. She basked in the spotlight for all it was worth while the glory was good.

This a different look - she appears genuinely depressed (which makes me wonder what's happening in the undercurrent).

11. They must need to tweak her meds.
I also feel truly sorry for her...I'm sure it's tough to wake up after 25+ years married to someone like George and suddenly realize what a mistake it was.

They say the presidency ages a man, and I've got to agree to a point. I really didn't see that much difference in Reagan, mainly because he was old to begin with, but also because he was pretty uninvolved with what was going on...he was just thrown out there to keep the troops in line. Hollywood couldn't have cast a more perfect "Big Brother" if they tried. Haven't seen all that much in George either, but with him I think it's just that he's too damn dumb to realize how much pressure there is in that job. Plus he's surrounded by people who do nothing but agree with him.

But this job sure as hell aged Laura. She just looks tired of the whole charade.
