OMG.....Can you say STUPID GAY????
We sat down with Patrick Sammon, the executive vice president of Log Cabin, a group of more than 20,000 gay Republicans. On the table were the issues of Foley fallout, and coming out as gay in conservative politics.

Isn’t it an oxymoron to be a gay Republican?

Sammon: The fact is that one in four gay and lesbian people are Republicans because they believe in limited government, personal responsibility and strong defense and they serve with distinction.

But there are some members of the GOP that don’t approve of homosexuality. Will they use the fallout from the Foley scandal to their advantage?

Sammon: It’s unfortunate that some anti-gay groups are using the Foley situation to score political points. Foley’s actions are shameful and his behavior is immoral and unethical. :wtf:

These Republican Log Cabin gays are (to borrow an adjective from someone else here at DU) such ASSCARROTS.

They drive me nearly as insane as all of the Bush lies.....not quite, but almost. :grr:

who voted, at least in the 2000 election, in far greater numbers (percentage-wise at least) for Bush than African American Republicans!!! :)

It's such a joke.

edit: to add: (percentage-wise)

16. Well I'm glad you said that
because as a white straight woman it drives me out of my EVER LOVING mind that a gay or a black or a woman could ever support these homophobic, woman hating racist - I have three bi-racial nephews and I have told them they can NEVER vote for a repunk - if I'm alive I'll kick their butts and if I'm dead I'll haunt them forever - then everybody yells at me and says they have to make their own decisions - and my response WHATEVER - I am more convinced then ever that the vast majority of repunks and evangelical white folk are frigging racist pigs -

11. These are the same talking points I get from my Repub friends;
Edited on Mon Oct-09-06 07:26 PM by jedr
Smaller government, lower taxes... etc....The facts are that repubs don't do any of these things. They give you a up front tax rebate that raises your state and local taxes and balloons the defect, govt grows faster than under Dem's. and a poorly thought out foreign policy that only weakens your defense. I tell them that I have voted for rebubs in the past and admire many of them especially on a local and state level , however G-dub ain't a Repub....he's a neocon....big difference. Let's talk facts , O.K.? This bunch of repubs' hates gays.....that's you and yours...come to grips with it!

12. As a HUMAN BEING, I cannot see how anyone half sentient could
Edited on Mon Oct-09-06 07:06 PM by TahitiNut
... support the depravity of this cabal. I DO NOT believe there's any special obligation, due to race or gender or religion or any other demographic, that would impel someone to oppose a corrupt and criminal political cabal ... just being a moral and sane human being should do it.

Why would I, in any sense of equity and justice, discriminatingly impose such a special obligation on another due to their race or religion? I think people should have equal opportunity to be total fucking morons!

13. You said ASSCARROT! HAHA
Im Gay and I think thats hilarious...

Anyway, about this "Gay repuke"..I will agree he got it half right.

Correct: "Sammon: It’s unfortunate that some anti-gay groups are using the Foley situation to score political points. Foley’s actions are shameful and his behavior is immoral and unethical."
- I find that to be an accourate statement.

Incorrect and flatout moronic: "Sammon: The fact is that one in four gay and lesbian people are Republicans because they believe in limited government, personal responsibility and strong defense and they serve with distinction."
- Thats compltely opposite of what the GOP and the Repuke party stand for.

Isn’t it an oxymoron to be a gay Republican? I always thought the answer to this question is YES.

I am a Gay American and I never saw anything in the Repuke party that supports the Gay Community in any way, shape or form.

Gay Republicans is like saying the Pope is liberal.

points statement.

The :wtf: was intended to represent my opinion about gay Repukes and the interview.

However, now that I think, that may have been confusing puting the smiley there!

17. If they believe in limited gov't, personal responsibility & strong defense
how can they be Republicans? (He left out fiscal responsibility also, the guy must have left his old repub notes at home.)

Or have they simply not been paying attention?

As for those "anti-gay groups," I guess he hasn't read the Republican party platform lately.
