Observations On Cable News Channels Today: ENCOURAGING!!
Edited on Mon Oct-09-06 06:53 PM by Beetwasher
Ok, I haven't watched cable news in a long, long time. Out of curiosity, because of all that's going on, I turned it on. Been watching Chris Matthews and Wolf Blitzer. Bottom line: I'm encouraged by what I'm seeing. Mainly, the NK story, while a top story is NOT dominating and neither is the Repub spin on the issue, that it's Clinton's fault, or that it's no big deal or that the story helps Repubs. Yes, these talking points are being brought up, but it's NOT the dominant point and there does seem to be some balance. There is STILL much Foley coverage and A LOT of coverage of the Republican Meltdown theme because of all the bad news (for Repubs) polls.

Admittedly, this is only from a small sampling over about an hour of watching, but still.

1. Are there any Democrats on hammering Bush over NK?
We can't let the "blame the Clenis" spin dominate.

2. From What I've Seen
So far, it's been mostly analysts, but the analysis has not been good for Chimpy. Essentially, the overriding message is that NK getting nukes was a foreign policy failure.

3. Thanks for the update
I,too, have stayed away from cable news for at least two years. But I love to read reports like this. Very encouraging. I've been at work all day, and all I could imagine was the talking heads solemnly assuring everyone that this was a winning issue for the repugs, with no evidence and no one to counter their spin. It sounds a little better than that.

4. It's Desperation
If the Repubs see NK testing nukes as some sort of saving grace for them, they are truly desperate.

But the height of desperation had to be when they threatened to put Pelosi and Rahm Emanuel under oath to find out what they knew about their own party member, Foley. The sad part is, their dumbest sheeple will hear that and think the Dems ARE to blame. If they can only scam a few members of their base, it's better than nothing to them.

6. Yeah, But That's About The Only People They Will Scam
And that's fine w/ me. Those people would never vote for Dems anyway, but enough of them may be disgusted enough to just sit this election out.
