Free Republic awaits operating funds from the GOP
Every six months or so, Free Republic has a fund-raiser. These fund-raisers always go the same. The first contributions trickle in, until the total gets to be about 25% of Free Republic's operating expense. That's when the Republican Party itself ponies up, and the fund-raiser is quickly over.

For years, I have watched this situation repeat itself -- to the point where, more than ever, I am convinced that Free Republic is being primarily funded by the GOP and/or RNC. My guess is that the Republicans in Washington wait to see if Free Republic can support itself and, when they find that it cannot, step in with enough money for RimJob and his co-rimmers to keep going.

I base my supposition on the fact that the fund-raising ALWAYS goes this way (money trickles in until about 25% of the goal is met, then a huge donation is received and the next day the fund-raiser is over) as well as the fact that I KNOW the GOP knows how useful the fanatics at Freeperville are to the GOP spin against the truth.

Of course, I expect the folks at Free Republic and the GOP to deny that there is any connection between the two entities. I expect that, because I ALWAYS expect Republicans to lie.

2. They only have about 16k now. This fundraiser has been going
on for a week (?). I only venture over when something really outrageous is pointed out.

That's pretty interesting.

3. FR aswellas Conservative money for radio...
Books, Think Tanks, Campaign Attack Ads and the "MSM". Payola of planted stories in this country and around the world supporting the war or Conservative/Corporate policies permeate the media outlets and at every turn to frame and misinform. Money greases the message's appeal not the innate quality of the ideas. Propaganda, Cons, Lies to keep 'em supporting against their best interests.

6. Have you considered starting a website to compete with Free Republic?
Surely it can't be difficult to make something a bit better. Perhaps you would get funding that would otherwise go to Free Republic.

Of course, you would have to remain anonymous or work with someone who is now anonymous and who would be the public face of the organization.

8. Is it possible that the good folks at FR are fudging it?
After all, anyone can say, "Oh, guess what! We've met our goal!" and you'd have no way of really knowing.

9. those remaining ten members are finding it hard to meet the goal
They're probably the same ones who guard the porta potty.

Seriously, so many people have left FR that I can't imagine they are able to be self-sustaining.

12. Which is ironic considering how "successful" the Freepers must be
after all, they "pull themselves up by their bootstraps" and work hard, the American Way, and so should all be rich, like we all can be (according to Freeper theory) if we just buckle down and work hard!

16. Damn, that picture of Jim Varney
brings back some memories.

You know that he was a very good singer and was very good on the stage? He as a good guy. My wife said his Shakespeare was so good. He was also very good at horse shoes, loved pocket knives, and worked at Linda's Sandwich shop before his career took off with his excellent commercials.

two or three years ago, maybe more, freepers were boycotting the fundraiser. People got pissy, some were banned for openly supporting the boyott. There were many questions then about what Rim-Job was doing with the money along with complaints that he was getting rich. Once Rim-Job cleaned house is when the pattern you notice started.
