Molly Ivins gets this weeks "Wings of Justice" award from Buzzflash.
Buzzflash.com has tens of thousands of readers and hopefully, some of them are Democratic senators. This week, Buzzflash gave Molly Ivins their "Wings of Justice" award for the column she wrote last week.

http://www.wingsofjustice.com/06/01/woj06004.html

It was hard to miss that column which drew over 400 postings here on DU. Each time I sent an email to a senator, or called one of their offices, I recommended that article to them.

By this time, only a brain-dead Democratic politician would be unaware of the fact that most of their constituents want them to stand up and start kicking ass -- beginning with a filibuster against Alito.

Molly made it pretty plain what needs to be done. If the Democrats don't act NOW to preserve our democracy, both they and our freedoms will become things of the past.

1. I have a confession on Molly vs Hillary
I love molly ivins but didn't give that column a chance because I'm tired of the hilary bashing. . but I read it today and IT WAS SPOT ON!

Molly points out that the polls show Americans don't want what we are getting from government but all we hear from the Republicans is "The American people want. . .the american people need. . .the american people deserve"

Anyway, read it yourself and remember that even though alito will be confirmed against the wishes of the American people, somebody gets it and we are in the majority!

7. Molly's political instincts are not good IMO...
As her support for Ralph Nader shows. She is a wonderful columnist, and her criticisms of Bush are spot on. But in surveying the political landscape, and making wise judgements about what will win politically, she is not so good.

9. what Democrats need most of all
Is somebody charismatic to sell a good agenda to America. Bill Clinton had that charisma. And, while I liked Mondale, Dukakis, Gore and Kerry, they are not the most charismastic.

Republicans can run George Bush (either one) out there and have an agenda that will screw the bottom 90% of America and still make it a competitive race due to their control of the media.
