I am deeply offended by them. It gives me the creeps when I see these ads, because it seems to me to be some kind of a cult.....like the Jim Jones fiasco. What's next for these kids? Huge vats of poisoned Kool-Aid? I hope DU gets rid of these ads. It's totally disgusting. :puke:

1. You can turn them off. Go to "options" and follow the directions.

Edit: Go to Options, then Preferences -- there is the choice to turn off Google ads. :)

9. Well, that's why the admins set it up this way, so we have a choice.

3. I'm sick of people complaining about them.
The movie is an expose, not pro-fundie. As a parent, I also have a remendous ability to ignore the annoying.

4. even though the movie is told from a more progressive viewpoint
about what goes on there, seeing that child with the vacant, robotic expression does give me the creeps. I know DU is getting money for this, but it has been bugging me for weeks now.

yes, I know I can turn the ads off, but some of them have proven very interesting, and I don't want to miss those, so I just try to ignore that one.

5. I'm more annoyed by all the "Is anyone sick of Jesus Camp ad?" posts
Just sayin'.

If you don't like the ad, ignore the product. No one is forcing you to click on it, or watch the movie. However, if you click on it twelve times, it'll make a few cents for DU, and waste the JC people's money all at the same time.

6. While I hate looking at them, this is an expose about the camp, not a pro-
camp movie. Of course it's a cult, and it's more widespread than you think. That's why it needs to be exposed, as in this documentary.

10. My best friend and her girlfriend saw it this past weekend.
In the audience were students from Moody's Bible College. After it was over one of the students leaned over and asked them what they thought of the film. The student was freaked out by the people depicted in this film. Both my friend and her girlfriend were raised fundies and it led to a great dialog about how sick these people were. All of them agreed that this contitutes child abuse. My friend thought that it was interesting that this young woman asked them as opposed to one of her classmates. As if she were reaching outside of her bible-based community.
This may open some eyes on how extreme these people are.

11. Yes the ads are creepy, but it is important to be reminded
of the whack jobs out there. These loons want to influence and change

our liberties.

We must not forget that these nasties are out there.

12. Well, isn't it about whether we'll go see a movie about the
"whack jobs?"

You know, I fault the advertising campaign. Because, this was a movie I might have seen if I hadn't had the "whack jobs" shoved at me every time I logged onto DU.

I know that the Jesusland Campers are a little (a lot) nutters.

What I want to know, after having their wacky grills in front of my face 24/7, what makes one think I'd want to see the movie?
