What is the Democratic Message for the November Elections?
Given that the Republicans have mastered the art of spinning, framing, and swiftboating
and the Republican faithful (and con$ervative media) receive daily talking points from the Central Hive via Limbot and others
and we hear these mental soundbites coming from the mouths of people around us...

How are Democrats countering Republican brainwashing? One of the R. Big Lies is that "Democrats don't have a plan."

What concise message do Democrats have for voters that are Undecided or Non-Voters or Republican Lite converts? Is there one?

What are the messages being used effectively in your local and state election campaigns?

3. Forceful Specifics, As Always
Let's see - from what I can recall:

1. Poverty is bad
2. Education is good
3. Crime is bad
4. Big government is bad
5. Cheaper healthcare is good - unless we no longer have the best healthcare in the world (LOL)
6. Single-payer universal healthcare is bad
7. Iraq war is goo.. er, ba... er, goo... , ba... er, goo... , ba... er, goo... , ba... er, goo... , ba... er, goo... , ba... er, goo... , ba... er, goo... , ba... er, goo... , ba... er, goo... , ba... er, goo... , ba... er, goo... , ba... er, goo... , ba... er, goo...

I'd like to see some actual proposals, i.e., increasing the average total tax burden on the wealthy from the current 17% to 30% or so, allowing a decrease in total tax burden on the Middle class from 35% to 30% or so. And single-payer universal healthcare.

(You may say I'm a dreamer... perhaps I'm the only one...)

5. If there is one they are keeping it very quiet...
All I've heard so far is 'no more of the same'. While I applaud the sentiment, it's not exactly a 'platform'.

6. If it was me,
I'd keep it quiet until all the drubbing is over; the Reprehensibles still have "Good Ol' Pervs" and "Denial" to deal with, not to mention "change the course," and they're doing far more damage to themselves while the Dems let it all stew than anything the Dems could say. Not to mention, not giving them something to attack until it's too late for them to do an effective hatchet job on it. Let them stew, says I, contradicting my earlier posts calling for some sort of platform statement.

When it came time, I'd seriously consider, "We'll be happy to impeach him for you all." Let Rove try to spin that one.

12. You mean a bumpersticker slogan...or something people might like to know?
You could say:

Time for Real Change

Stop The Bush Rubberstampers

Let's Take Our Country Back

etc.

but people want real answers, at least the ones that really vote. Nuance is a lot like a recipe. You have ingredients and then follow directions. You can't make a pie by just telling someone "Crispy crust rules!" You need to understand the issues and their likely implications...

15. Depends on who you ask.
Some say the economy or social security or pensions. Others say the current foreign policy mess. Others, we do "security" better. But never will our leadership agree and they still seem to be trying to find the one area they all agree on. In the meantime, it makes us look in disarray sometimes. I say run against your opponent individually and let the repukes self-destruct. It seems some of our dems in Washington keep getting in the way of that.

21. The voting machines are a problem. Yes, the repukes
can self-destruct. That's why we don't need anyone in congress softening it right now by voting with the repukes and therefore, making them seem legit.

27. Just heard a local righty talk show host ask why people were
so willing to vote for a Democrat just because he/she ISN'T a republican. He was ranting about what plans do the Dems have (usual B.S.). I think the Dems have laid out plenty of plans. It's just that no one bothers to look for them. It's not like the nightly news is going to run "Here's the Dems plans if they're elected" as their top story...or as any story.
As near as I can tell, the repuke's plan is "Stay the course in Iraq, Lower taxes for the rich, build a big effing fence along the border, privatize Social Security, get rid of public education, etc., etc., etc..."
Come to think of it...it's okay to run only on "Vote for me..I'm not a repuke"!!!

28. Yes, we keep hearing this
"I think the Dems have laid out plenty of plans. It's just that no one bothers to look for them."

I tried to pose the OP question in terms of what are we offering and how are we getting the message out? Democrats cant's just say "people have to educate themselves." What are all those PR people for? :hi:
