Force-fed the Faux News Diet leads to brain poisoning |
|
At least around these parts (eastern panhandle of WV, NW Virginia, western Maryland) you can't go into a clinic, doctor's office, hospital, auto shop waiting room, restaurant or other place of business where the TV -- usually placed near the ceiling where, for lack of a brick, you can't change the channel -- is tuned to FAUX News. What the hell is up with that? I'm not exaggerating, either. It's as if this swill is being fed ala 1984 to a captive audience. The ONLY exception I've seen in the past couple of years was the waiting room in one medical office, where the TV was set to TBN (the Trinity Broadcasting Network) and the only reading material around consisted of piles of religious tracts. Question is, why are so many doctors and hospitals such slaves to Bushco and the neocon propaganda machine? Why do we have to be force fed this crap just to see a doctor or get the oil changed in our car? How am I supposed to have an appetite at a restaurant that offers up an appetizer of Bill O'Reilly staring into my plate?
Is this just a regional thing or has anyone else experienced this trip to the Twlight Zone? It just feels like a coordinated campaign to brainwash the masses. It's driving me nuts, that's for sure!

There's a select group of lemmings out there who make it their goal in life to flip any TV located in a public place to FAUX News. Why, I have no idea. I guess they like misinformation.
Here's a suggestion: Whenever you run across it again, flip the channel to something less offensive. Me? I usually turn on Animal Planet. It's a crowd-pleaser, very non-offensive, and it often makes people more relaxed. I also recall reading a post here once from someone who also experienced good results changing it to Food Network.

6. Most of the TVs are set so that folks can't change the channel |
|
Believe me, if that was an option I'd take it!

2. Doctors, making over 6 figures, like the tax break. This is why a large |

number of doctors, the big majority from what I've seen, are Republicans. This includes the ones I worked with in California as well as here in Texas.

3. We have CNN in our work cafeteria |
|
Most other places it's Fox News. There is a Nebraska chain restaurant that used to have Fox News on everytime you went in there and one day about a year ago it was gone suddenly. I asked the lady behind the counter what happened. She said they had to get rid of it after too many complaints!

http://www.tvbgone.com/cfe_tvbg_main.phpour TV-B-Gone® universal remote control resembles other TV remote controls, but is different in two important ways. First, it only has a power button that allows you to switch a TV on or off. You control when you see, rather than what you see. Second, the device is so small that it easily fits in your pocket, so that you have it handy whenever you need it wherever you go: airports, bars, restaurants, laundromats, etc. A friend of mine once used to shut off a TV showing NASCAR in a restaurant in rural Vermont, boy did that make some people MAD!

I think you were the one who's post I replied to on the NC board.
Did you get the instructions for the antenna off the web? If so, share the site. I've got a really old Minerva radio (Austrian) from the late 1950s. Still works and sounds great, and picks up AM (MW)/FM/SW/LW. I'd love to make a good loop antenna for this thing.
