Another Republic who can't admit to any mistakes
Another Republic who can't admit any mistakes? Jodi Rell is the popular governor of Connecticut, who was Lt. Governor when her then boss, John Rowland resigned and was sent to prison in disgrace a few years back.

Rell was Rowland's Lt. Governor for 10 years, but claimed, "I know nuffink" about the constant heap of corruption surrounding Rowland for that decade.

First Debate A Civil Affair
Rell, DeStefano Keep Disagreements Polite

In his first face-to-face encounter with Gov. M. Jodi Rell Monday, John DeStefano delivered some detailed policy proposals and some pointed jabs - but not the blockbuster many observers say he needed to overcome deficits of 25 to 33 points in recent polls.

When asked which of the three candidates for the U.S. Senate would be best for Connecticut, Rell appeared tongue-tied. She would not say who would be best among Republican Alan Schlesinger, Democrat Ned Lamont and U.S. Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman, who is running as an independent after losing the Democratic primary.

DeStefano pounced on the non-response, saying, "I pray that I'll never be in politics so long as to give an answer like that."

The final question of the night for each candidate was: What was your biggest mistake? Rell simply could not provide an answer.

"I don't see it," said Rell, who had a chance to think of her response while DeStefano was answering. "Instead, I see the good things we've done over the past two years. ... If there is only one regret, it's that we can't do more."

DeStefano seemed surprised by Rell's response, saying, "The second answer that I hope I never make as long as I'm in politics - that I've never made a mistake."
