McCain Criticizes Clinton on N. Korea
By SARAH KARUSH

The Associated Press

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. -- Republican Sen. John McCain on Tuesday accused former President Clinton, the husband of his potential 2008 White House rival, of failing to act in the 1990s to stop North Korea from developing nuclear weapons.

US grants N Korea nuclear funds

Pyongyang threatened to pull out of the nuclear deal

The US Government has announced that it will release $95m to North Korea as part of an agreement to replace the Stalinist country's own nuclear programme, which the US suspected was being misused.

Under the 1994 Agreed Framework an international consortium is building two proliferation-proof nuclear reactors and providing fuel oil for North Korea while the reactors are being built.

In releasing the funding, President George W Bush waived the Framework's requirement that North Korea allow inspectors to ensure it has not hidden away any weapons-grade plutonium from the original reactors.

President Bush argued that the decision was "vital to the national security interests of the United States".

10. I was in the military under Bush I...
Things were pretty critical with N. Korea until Clinton came along. He managed to calm things down, but under Bush I, there was a time when N. Korea was our Number 1 threat.

13. Now Condi is up on Wolfie's show implying the same thing
out of one side of her mouth while coyly demuring that she wouldn't say anything so blatant and no one could stop NK from developing these weapons and that they had been doing this for "decades."

February 2003 - prior to the Iraq invasion - North Korea captured the spotlight yet again when it announced a reactivation of its nuclear facilities and threatened the U.S. with a pre-emptive first strike. Even in the midst of an overwhelmingly obvious threat to American security from an adversary with undeniable WMD capability, diplomatic relations calmly continued without any apparent concern and the focus remained on an Iraq attack, a country that posed no immediate threat.
