Need some Barbara Bush quotes
My Freeper co-worker claims Barbara Bush is "classy." I want to prove him otherwise by sending him a list of her most classless quotes. Can anyone help me out? Thanks!

2. My favorite.
Former First Lady Barbara Bush said of the war in Iraq: "Why should we hear about body bags and deaths? It's not relevant. So why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that?"

5. re: Katrina evacuees:
“What I’m hearing which is sort of scary is that they all want to stay in Texas. Everybody is so overwhelmed by the hospitality. And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway so this (chuckle) – this is working very well for them.” — Former First Lady Barbara Bush, on the hurricane evacuees at the Astrodome in Houston, Sept. 5, 2005

7. her's a couple
Former First Lady Barbara Bush said of the war in Iraq: "Why should we hear about body bags and deaths? It's not relevant. So why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that?"

The former First Lady made this remark on national television shortly before the commencement of the invasion of Iraq.
The comment arose during a Good Morning America interview with the couple who were formerly President and First Lady, George H.W. Bush and Barbara Bush. The interview was conducted by Diane Sawyer in Houston scant hours before the couple's son, President George W. Bush, delivered a televised ultimatum to Saddam Hussein to step down from power and leave Iraq or face U.S.-led military action. The chat with the senior Bushes aired the following morning, 18 March

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Barbara Bush: Things Working Out "Very Well" for Poor Evacuees from New Orleans NEW YORK Accompanying her husband, former President George H.W.Bush, on a tour of hurricane relief centers in Houston, Barbara Bush said today, referring to the poor who had lost everything back home and evacuated, "This is working very well for them."

The former First Lady's remarks were aired this evening on National Public Radio's "Marketplace" program.

Then she added: "What I’m hearing is they all want to stay in Texas. Everyone is so overwhelmed by the hospitality.

"And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this--this is working very well for them."

And here's a link to the audio of the NPR Marketplace segment containing this incredible quote. It's real. Although some people might I suppose call it a nervous giggle rather than a chuckle.

PS. E&P actually ameliorated the quote from la Bush. What she said on the tape about New Orleans' newly destitute is: "What I'm hearing which is sort of scary is that they want to stay" in Texas.

8. Her charitable contribution to Katrina
came with a qualifier that it was only to be used to buy software from her sons company (of which she is a shareholder).

15. I remember that she said....

If she got 'hold of Kerry, he'd receive another Purple Heart. Real classy - eh? Doesn't exactly show respect for the medal or the veteran, imo.

And, she also said that she'd like to kill those people questioning her son - I think that was during the '04 election season but am not sure.

She has zero class ---- Jr even says that his 'outspoken behavior' (to put it nicely) comes from his mom.

edited to add: These things were said during the same time period that fundies were going bananas over Teresa Heinz-Kerry telling someone to shove it. I asked one of them what they thought of Barb's comments but they "didn't know" she had said those things - hadn't ever heard anything off the wall from good-ol'-Barb. I then said - well, how 'bout that Liberal Media???

18. He just wrote back:
"I think I feel the same way..... :)"

He and I are on friendly terms, so I figured he wouldn't get all upset at me for sending him those quotes. I wrote back to him: "Well, don't waste your beautiful mind worrying about it!"
