I'd be willing to bet that Frist is threatening some of the Repukes that might think Alito is just a couple of sandwiches short of a picnic basket.

Dear Senator Nelson,

I would like to thank you for your “NO” vote on the Sam Alito confirmation.

As I sit here watching the debate and vote on c-span, I just caught a remark from Senator Cornyn (R-TX). He said that Judge Alito no more believes in an all-powerful presidency, than does Justice Scalia. Not a very comforting thought.

I urge you to help protect the freedoms and the judiciary that made America great. Please
