KENS 5 Eyewitness News

A church school teacher and basketball coach was arrested Wednesday morning on charges of indecency with a child.

Police said he molested one of his students, a shock for the congregation at the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in the 6900 block of Wurzbach Road.

Timothy Robert Frahm, 40, is a coach, teacher and father of three children. He is accused of trying to have an affair with a 12-year-old student.

Police said the girl, who Frahm coaches and teaches in his literature class, claims Frahm fondled and kissed her on several occasions.

According to the church's Web site, Frahm taught religion, physical education and literature to seventh and eighth graders.

SNIP

I guess parents with kids at religious/private schools should remain vigilant.

2. Time to give up the notion that religion helps you with your "demons"
What he did was terribly wrong. Everyone should know that.

He gained nothing from his religion. What did it offer him that helped?

3. Defenders of Mary Kay LeTourneau, your time is now!
Ms. LeTourneau was the teacher in Washington state who had an affair and a couple of children with one of her students, an affair that began when the boy was of a similar age to the girl in this story. Most of the country was rightfully shocked, and Ms. LeTourneau went to jail for a while for statutory rape. She has since served her time, and married the young man who is now of legal age.

There was a lot of facetious and not-so-facetious defending of Ms. LeTourneau for her dalliance. I wonder how many of those erstwhile supporters will similarly take to their public soapboxes to defend Mr. Frahm?

4. The language is pissing me off
Timothy Robert Frahm, 40, is a coach, teacher and father of three children. He is accused of trying to have an affair with a 12-year-old student.

A 40-year-old man DOES NOT have an AFFAIR with a 12-year-old. He rapes them. The reporter should have known better.

13. Hey Mtn Laurel, I wanted you to know that I emailed them and they changed
the article! "The article has been changed. Thanks for writing."

After going over it again, I sent a very polite email that I was questioning their use of that term, and apparently they either agreed with you or they got alot of feedback on it and changed it. Thanks for mentioning that, because I don't know if I would have caught it without your eye for detail. I saw the video report on tv today at noon also, so that was prevalent in my mind.

14. That's great to hear!
But so sad that it got there in the first place. I worked as an editor for 10 years and have a bachelor's in journalism, and that was a mistake that just should not have been made.

and I was trying to give her a physical education . . ."

6. He "fondled and kissed her on several occasions".
Something about this story doesn't work. Why didn't the child report this to parents or administrators after the first time?

Maybe she did and they didn't believe her.

Anyway, sounds like he admitted to wrong doing and he should be banished and punished but I think that there is more to this story.

10. Kids are usually told that they will get into trouble if they tell.
Yeah, the kids are thinking they did something wrong and will be punished. The rapists and molestors have a terrible manipulative upper hand in this.

7. Horrible horrible person....
And he was not trying to have an "Affair" with her. He was trying to rape her. Last I looked, having sex with a twelve year old still counted as Statutory Rape, even if she "consents" to the sex.

8. This goes to show it can happen anywhere
Just because you're in a religious school doesn't mean you're safe from people who could be child molestors.

12. First a Souther Baptist committee member soliciting gay sex & now
this. Who would have ever thought this would happen to such holy men. Guess this makes religion the second oldest profession. :)
