Why Fight Alito? Remember George Washington was 0 and 7 when he .....
.... he took on the Brits. And it seemed to work out for us.

Call senators now! Demand a filibuster. Time to look the devil in the eye and sock him in the mouth.

Grahamn "We will clean their clocks."

Allen, "Make my day, I will pull that constitutional trigger gladly."

We are the majority ..... they aren't.

1. The only reason Washington won is...
He had the French and Spanish on his side at Yorkton.

3. What do you mean by that?:
I mean what does that statement add to a discussion of the original post?

I'm not saying what you are saying isn't true (it is), but it seems kind of like a non-sequiter.

Unless you are a defeatist, in which case, i guess it makes perfect sense.

5. It means the original post was stupid
and based on a false analogy. That is a discussion of the issue, you have put forward some fantasy to the effect that a minority of congress can transform itself into a majority, darn it, if it would just go out there and win one for the gipper. Nice fantasy, not worthy of much discussion.

Better analogy would be a discussion of the fact that part of the reason Washington did survive long enough for the French to get involved was his consistent tactic of avoiding head to head confrontations with superior forces. Think that one over.

2. War's over
we're going back towards a kind of monarchy.

4. The analogy is completely inapposite.
The response that Washington had the french does add to the discussion you started by pointing out the idiocy of the argument.

There is no analogy. We can't call upon Lafeyette to supply us with reinforcements to turn the democratic minority in the house into a majority.

Its a matter of mathematics. 2+2 does not equal 5.

This strange delusion that "if the dems would just pluck up their courage and fight, they could play over the heads and beat the republicans, like the bad news bears did in that movie."

No they can't. Its math, plain and simple.
