The Giant Flying Impeach Pig Over San Francisco.
Edited on Wed Oct-11-06 04:37 PM by byronius
The sold-out Roger Waters concert at the Shoreline last night was amazing. Incredible, virtuoso performances by every musician on stage -- well worth the ticket price and the lack of sleep today. However, one moment stands out.

During 'Sheep', from the album 'Animals', a Giant Floating Pink Pig emerged from the wings, and began to make its way over the cheering crowd. It was guided by a young man who picked his way through the cheering crowd; the spotlights all swiveled to focus on the Pig -- on one side, in giant black letters: 'DON'T BE LED TO THE SLAUGHTER'. As the Pig rotated, the other side appeared: 'KAFKA RULES OK -- HABEAS CORPUS'. But then -- on the rear end of the Pig, in a neat circle around its inflatable hams: 'IMPEACH BUSH NOW'.

The crowd roared. A more diverse audience I have never seen -- from the fifteen-year-old dreadlockers to the seventy-year-old nuclear physicists -- on their feet, fists in the air, jumping, screaming, One Nation, Under The Giant Pink Floyd Impeach Pig.

As the young handler worked his way through the back lawn, up into the cheap seats (where I was), the Pig suddenly escaped his grasp -- and flew up into the air over the Shoreline, eventually disappearing into the night sky, heading in the direction of San Francisco. Everyone waved -- shouts of 'Goodbye, Pig!' and 'Don't be afraid, Pig!' echoed in the air. It was the main topic in line for the restroom.

Goodbye, Pink Pig. May you not disrupt air traffic, and may you come to rest on the lawn of someone who understands and loves you, who will quietly deflate and gently fold you, and return you home to your handler, so that you may someday fly again, proudly, so powerfully, so beautiful in the San Francisco sky.

I loved that Pig. And I loved that scene. It was the place to be on Planet Earth at that very moment, let me tell you. Americans, fists in the air, jumping, cheering, all as one Nation, under the Pink Pig.

I think we're going to be O.K.

2. Too bad I missed it
Glad the Shoreline show was good - I last saw Waters at Oakland Colesium back on the Radio KAOS tour. Good show, but the acoustics were horrible

4. Rog is the man...
I know a couple guys on his road crew.. I hope the roadie who accidently lost the pig doesn't get in too much trouble.

"It was the place to be on Planet Earth at that very moment, let me tell you."
I've seen Waters 3 times and every show I've seen I felt exactly like that, great post!

14. not likely an accident
My understanding it that the pig "gets lost" at every show. Part of the effect is watching it float away high into the night sky. Roger is on top of every facet of his show.

My first thought was akin to "oh, how environmentally uncool." My next thought was. "Right on! that pig says impeach Bush NOW on it. Send the message. Maybe it will end up in some fat cat republican's swimming pool."

6. Hey, You White House... Ha Ha, Charade You are.

You house proud town mouse,
Ha ha charade you are

You're trying to keep our feelings off the street.
You're nearly a real treat,

All tight lips and cold feet
And do you feel abused?

You gotta stem the evil tide,

And keep it all on the inside.

Mary you're nearly a treat,
Mary you're nearly a treat
But you're really a cry.

9. Hey, Didn't Our Fearful DC "Leaders" Say They'd Impeach "When Pigs Fly"?
Yeah, I know. Just one pig. Plausible Deniability.

At least we can hope it will land on DiFi's house and maybe change her "when pigs fly" attitude against standing on moral, patriotic principle to uphold her oath of office.

11. God I love San Francisco!
Edited on Thu Oct-12-06 10:03 AM by whereismyparty
Magical moments like that always seem to happen there. I can see it, I can feel it. Thank you for taking me there with your story. I have to say, some of the greatest concert moments in my life were experienced in San Francisco.
I even got pulled up on stage and kissed by Wilson Pickett! (sigh:loveya:) Then he danced with me before he exited the stage. God I walked on air for weeks after that.

THE PINK PIG LIVES!!!
