Sorry, but Alito fillibuster isn't going to happen
Just look at the news...

Senators support Alito...

Reports about everyone going through the motions and polls showing 'a majority' support Alito...

I will gladly eat my words later if it happens, but the Dems are going to sit on their ass again...

And the constitution will lie in tatters on the ground...

So, I am going to sleep and hope when I wake-up the nightmare will be over...

4. landrieu is a real disappointment. In many ways.
Liberman, no comment.
where are the leaders? where is their spine? Are they blind to what Alito represents? Or are we all wet and incorrect?

6. Our Gov't has truly abandonded us...
...or perhaps this is a ruse and the Dems are working WITH the Repubs - and just pretending to play for opposite teams when they are really one in the same. I'm disgusted.

8. Nobody can say that yet.

It would be stupid for the Dems to tip their hands on the filibuster and they know it. We've heard no information which would allow us to make a determination of whether they will vote for cloture or not.

Let the news media say what they will say. Since when are opinions in the news media reality?

Please stop the doom and gloom, sit back and enjoy the show. We'll know when and if it happens, or not.

Peace.

19. Call, write, do whatever it takes
to get the message out instead of sitting on a forum whinning that the dems aren't doing anything. Either your a duer or your a follower that just sits back on the pity pot and whines woo is me. Thats what has been the problem for to long, no one willing to make a fuss, let the other guy do it, well those who sit back and do nothing have nothing to say.

9. You are a true American...when the going gets tough

Give up.

I won't stop calling and trying until it is over...

I will at least know that I fought my hardest.

And, that is all anyone can do!

I have sent faxes, emails, and phone calls about this guy... Literally as much as I can do from here...

But I really get the sense that it's not going to happen.

12. 8 Democrats appear to be blocking it--some of whom will vote
against him--If they vote No but don't filibuster they may as well just vote "yes". I hope we get the names of these Democrats.

13. And that will spell the death knell of the party
Too many people out there, from moderate anti-war folks, to the leftist base are sick and tired of the Dems rolling over and pissing all over themselves like a pup trying to please its abusive master. They want to see the Dems fight, we desperately need somebody to stand up and fight. And if the Dems roll on this one, well a great many of these anti-war people and leftists will take their votes and go elsewhere. People have gotten to the point where they will join a third party like the Greens because hey, at least the Greens fight and will go down swinging.

point that a filibuster is unlikely (although more likely today than it was a week ago).

18. And when asked where Kerry and Hillary were hiding...
...the two people who will demand the most in 2008 that we let them run our country (forget about our civil liberties or a woman's right to choose), I always get blasted, accused of using "right-wing talking points". Hey wait...do you think it's really the right-wing using my ideas? I made bets they'd chicken-shit their way out of it but no one would take me up.

22. So what are we gonna do?
I say the DU activist corps or whoever has the organizational abilities get ready. There's a HUGE group of people looking for somewhere to work hard for and vote with in '06/'08. I don't care if it's an entirely new party or we decide to unite around one candidate...but dammit...i'm sick of whining, let's do something! I'm no longer a democrat the day Judge Alito becomes Justice Alito...I'm dying for somewhere to put my efforts!

27. I remember that and I'll bet one of their main campaign themes will be...
"Elect me so that no more right-wing judges will be appointed". You know, I know, and they know that most American's memories are very short. They count on it as it's so predictable.

21. The White Sox will never win the World Series
I mean, come on! They're just standing out there in the field, and you have to score runs to win a game! Everybody knows that, but look at them, just standing out there, pitching and fielding and catching and throwing. They'll never score a run that way, so they're going to lose for sure.

And now look at 'em! They're just running into the dugout! They've lost for sure, no way they can ever win this game. It's over. I'm turning the TV off.

25. "hope when I wake-up the nightmare will be over..."
My wish since stupid americans allowed the worst dictator and his bunch of republicans to cheat and rob the nation of a legitimate election and then compound the whole mess by believing 9/11 just happened! If they could take over the country, they could destroy what ever they pleased to gain more world wide power!
If this is ever over, I want to be around to dance in the streets as america did on VE and VJ day. It should certainly be that big, if not more, reason to celebrate the end of this and the ignorant religionists crawl back in their infested holes!

That's a quote that accused me of "using right-wing talking points" and not knowing what I was talking about.

Oh yeah, I made the bet offer but it was never accepted. People aren't afraid to shoot off their mouth, tell you that your own opinions are not your own but they shut the fuck up when they know they'll lose their money.
