Student who asked Bush about "Brokeback Mountain" gets mixed reax

<snip>

Jeremy Parker is getting a mixed reaction to his asking President Bush if he'd seen "Brokeback Mountain."

The Kansas State University Campus Forum is full of reaction. One student wrote to Parker "you're my hero." Another "thanks" Parker for "embarrassing" their school. And another student wrote "I tried to imagine a bigger waste of space than Jeremy Parker. I got nothing."

Parker told "Inside Edition" that he asked the question because the ones that came before his were "boring" and he wanted to keep the president "on his toes."

1. personally
Bush's reaction made him look stupid, but I do think that question is pulling the focus from other, more substantial questions that he also answered poorly.

3. How is the fact that our Preznit touts homophobia as a good thing
not a substantial issue? I would think that if I was a gay person living in a country where my president used my sexuality against me to pull religious nutjobs out from their holes in the earth to support his psychotic agenda, it would probably feel like that was a substantial question.

7. *that* is a substantial issue
The President's embrace of homophobia is definitely a substantial issue. But in the mainstream media, the question isn't getting reported as a probe of his views about the bigger issue of homophobia, it's being reported as just a question about a movie for everyone to snicker about.

9. I see what you're saying, that makes a lot of sense.
But I still commend Jeremy for asking it. I bet he has a tough road ahead of him for doing something like that in that part of the country. Good for him. But you're right, it's too bad our MSM is just a bunch of stupid ass bobble heads that couldn't figure out what that question really signifies if you paid them to.

10. This didn't help
I watched him on a news show last night. He admitted he had never seen the movie and didn't plan to! Pissed me off. Said he just did it to lighten things up.

I didn't know that. You're right. That didn't help at all.

11. Jeremy Parker asked Bush a harder question than anyone at Fox News. Ever.
Just chew on that for a moment and realize how it tastes.

But it was intended as a spoof Bumper Sticker. Feel free to print it.

18. "waste of space"? Ha hahahaha!..
No, the only waste of space..and time...and pre-empted TV programming, is the so-called news conferences where reporters get on their knees to service Little Boots by asking inane, pre-scripted questions.

Parker should get a medal, whether he saw Brokeback Mountain or not.

sheesh!! :banghead:
