25. Can Someone Re-Post (Here) The Nu's to our Senators?
Seen them on a post, but can't find it.

I'm ready to begin calling now. Books, studies can wait till tonight. This is way too important.

NOTE: Sen. Clinton is now up 3:18 PM EST. Just beginning. She follows (D) Sen. Barbara Mikulski of MD, my state :)

44. She Started Out Modestly...
Near what is now known as "Fells Point." It was a an average, low to mid-level lower/middle class, hardworking neighborhood. Long before the area became up-and-coming, she lived with her mother, now gone.

She's worked tirelessly, alone as a woman long ago when there were barely any women on that hill at all.

She helped me find my long lost adopted brother. That was eons ago. Helped me after my husband died. Her office was never more then 1 phone call away.

Called awhile ago and still her gals are the best - pleasant, kindly, asking questions and courteous, bar-none.

With Senator Sarbanes leaving soon (hear his son might run for his seat & hope he does) these 2 Senators will be sorely missed when and if they ever step-down.

Can we lobby to impeach the Judges that decided Bush v. Gore. Is there a process we can get started? Does anyone know? Anyone know anything about Samuel Chase? What is the story of his impeachment? Just Curious. I don't mean to distract you all.

10. When the Dems Praise Sandra Day, it goes over the top..
It's all good that she is voting No... but Dems should NOT be going so far as to make O'Connor into some sort of saint, she clearly wasn't not even compared to judge A- Lie-Toe..

The point can be made that she was the first Woman, (leaving only one woman on the court with Ginsberg)and that she was the deciding vote on many important issues that affect civil rights and civil liberties... but the accolades should NOT go so far as some of these Dems, it misses the mark, and it justifies her 2000 decision, which was not a matter of small consequence to our democracy and our liberties and indeed the course of history.

This sandra day o'connor is a saint business is nauseating.
She's a reich-wing partisan who let her political views dictate on perhaps the most important Supreme Court decision of the century.
She unleashed this monster and the wave of misery we're all now dealing with.

111. I talked with him earlier today. He's going crazy with calls.
But he took the time to hear me out.

and to say, "You're welcome."

I think he's a friend of a friend of my brother's friend, or something.

And believe me,
the first thing he would even think to say is "fuck you back", because he is a Nebraskan, and that's the level to which the political discourse in this state has fallen.

Oh, our poor Constitution. Where ever it may be lying on some dark, dingy, musty corner far below the basement, where our Democrats have to hold hearings in.

Can you imagine a night watchman, or cleaning guy now and then, looking down at it and what he/she might be thinking.

67. mel brooks/the producers
Ven you got it, flaunt it
Step right up and strut your stuff
People tell you modesty's a wirtue
But in the theatre modesty can hurt you

Ven you got it, flaunt it
Show your assets, let them know you're proud
Your goodies you must push
Stick out your chest, shake your tush
Ven you got it, shout it out loud

Ven you got it, show it
Put your hidden treasures on display
Violinists love to play an E-string
But audiences really love a G-string

Ven you got it, should it!
Let the whole vorld hear vat you're about
Clothes may make the man
All a girl needs is a tan
Ven you got it, let it hang out!

53. Speaking of our constitutional right to privacy and Alito as a tipping
point for freedoms and rights.

"I fear he will roll back and roll over (our rights.)"

"To be sure, Roe v Wade, environmental safeguards and (anti-machine) gun laws...are at risk...many Americans are not paying attention to this debate...SCOTUS will have a dramatic effect on our nation..."

71. "Quite a Spectacle..." Nominating Myers...
now Clinton is contrasting to Alito.

"They know (with Alito) exactly what they're getting."

She's talking about his records on infringing on America's rights; dissent Title 7 which prohibits against women, minorities in workplace; his writings, his work, opinions on bench are more troubling because he seems to favor executive power, so much over other govt branches of gov.t'

She fears he will not respect system of checks and balances according to the Constitution.

Now mentioning Federalists, how they want to (?) against our founding fathers...

Speaking of 3 separate, equal forms of government. Unchecked powers... we're seeing something of that right here in Washington.

Founding fathers knew we needed to keep a watch on one another. She does not believe he respect the way America is set-up.

Shew... Taking rights from average citizens.

Now talking about illegal wiretapping, how Alito thinks it's ok (my words as fingers can't keep up)

Abuse of power... she's talking about this alot.

56. Just Say It Hillary--- Alito is a Wiener!!
I saw some footage on Alito greeting the crowds, his fans, and he was extremely nervous and misplaced around them. You could tell he did not want to be around these people at all. He looked like a mental case, worrying they were touching him....

98. Kerry's Up Not - 3:43 PM EST
Edited on Wed Jan-25-06 03:51 PM by AuntiBush
Go Senator Kerry!

"Alito's track record, for the reasons unanswered in the hearings, decisions he made where studies showed ... for compelling reasons, he opposes Alito," disagrees with his ideologies, hear open-mindedness that they haven't seen in the courts.

Heard the hard-way. Can't erase track record.

Talking about Supreme Court justices and how important limits are, over-ruling, appreciate struggles our nation has endured.

Add: Bush chose to nominate someone who would not unite our country

The way in which (Alito) came to "us" - Pres under fire for nominating Myers. Some "idealogical coo..."

Bush gave more thoughts about political then what country wanted. Made it about his "base." KERRY says he has proof - look at Ann COULTER's COMMENTS, inflammatory, engaging in CHARACTER ASSASSINATION; attacked others... Yet, Coulter celebrated w/right-hook nominating Alito. Loves how (Alito's) wakes up (my words) excited ticking off the minority.

Note: We're not the minority, at least not in my neck of the woods, even though they're represented by REpuks.

GO KERRY!

102. Kerry: Words at a confirmation hearing doing erase one's history...
Compares his decision against Alito to when he voted for Scalia. Scalia said he'd be 'open minded'. Kerry says, "We learned that words spoken in a confirmation hearing does not erase ones ruling history."
(that's not verbatim - I think he was more eloquent)

114. Kerry Just Mentioned ENRON and Justification for Wire-Tapping
Blank check for over-reaching executive powers
Presidential powers used to influence legislation (paraphrasing some... hard to keep-up)

Kerry is seriously laying it out about Legislative branches. Bush has taken powers to extraordinarily levels.

Habeas corpus, dissects Congress.

Ease-dropping

Bush signing (astounding - Kerry's word) - not being held accountable. Using Supreme court for reigning in assessive pres. power.

He's talking about blank checks used to fight terrorism

Now he's talking about Alito's past writings, he was particularly proud to not protect women against abortion.

118. Just curious Santorum... Doesn't the SOTU have the right to REFUSE
any case it wishes not to rule on? If that is the case they should refuse every case that has ANY political ramification for anything because as you say..The SOTU is not a supposed to set policy.

How the hell can he make this statement? While they may not set out to set policy, ultimately, they are the end game for any case that is changing policy, especially when it deals with executive overreach!

Do Americans really by this shit?
