Repubs tell Democrats it's time to stop talking and vote...
Senators McCain from AZ and Goodhair from TX said it's time to vote. We have talked enough about this nominee, they said. But the Democrats talk on. Why don't they listen?

2. if they're not going to filibuster - then why don't they just vote.
Serious question. They can cast their meaningless, losing No votes and move on to other business.

5. The congressional record matters for history. The DISSENT matters - even
when you have the media dumbing Americans down to the soundbites they prefer, instead of appreciating the value of the historic record.

without saying it. It is too painful for me to watch this if they aren't going to put some action behind their words.

actual record and the verbal registering of the dissent.

The MEDIA purposely set course years ago to make the American people lose patience with intellectualized argument and speech.

The American people at one time would listen for hours to their radios and absorb the words spoken. They treasured the intellectual gifts of their leaders back then. In the last decade, coarseness has been rewarded, and sadly, even within our own party.

I don't believe this is by accident. It's intentional. And the fascists fully expected it to work out this way.

12. throw in diluting the quality of public education
and you got a nice malleable populace incapable of critical thinking. Yep. No accident at all.

4. I don't know why
I mean, there's all these people, even around here at DU, who figure this one'e already over. I even made a post about it in another thread, but the OP didn't think it worthy of a response:

Look at those guys, they'll never win! Look at them standing around out in the field. Everybody knows you have to score runs to win, and they're just standing out there. Okay, they're running and throwing and pitching and catching, but they haven't scored any runs at all. Now look! They're running off the field into the dugout. It's hopeless. We've lost. I'm turning off the TV.

9. I think the majority of the 7 Dems on the Gang of 14 are holding out...
Reid may be trying to get a few of them to change their minds and go along with a filibuster? We don't know. But, if we don't have at least 41 votes, there can be no filibuster.

This is already a highly controversial situation. The more we talk, the more dirt we dig up on this nomination, the more peoples' minds are changed.
