BRITISH ARMY CHIEF CALLS FOR IRAQ WITHDRAW
http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/meast/10/12/iraq.general/index.html

Report: British Army chief calls for Iraq pullout
LONDON, England (CNN) -- The chief of the British Army has called for a pullout of British troops from Iraq "sometime soon" and said that post-invasion planning for that war was "poor, probably based more on optimism than sound planning."

Gen. Richard Dannatt told London's Daily Mail newspaper that he had "more optimism" that "we can get it right in Afghanistan."

Dannatt said that Britain's continued presence in Iraq had made the country less secure.

Britain should "get ourselves out sometime soon because our presence exacerbates security problems," he told the newspaper in an interview published Thursday.

"I don't say that the difficulties we are experiencing round the world are caused by our presence in Iraq, but undoubtedly our presence in Iraq exacerbates them."

2. This story is extremely significant
Imagine if Rumsfeld came out and said it's time to pull out of Iraq.

It's the same thing for Britain.

And it has huge implications for the U.S.

8. I think she meant it tongue-in-cheek, reKerry-Feingold withdrawal plan
where many Dems and the media were just not ready to LISTEN, and corpmedia STILL acts as there is no plan except "cut and run" as Rove insists on calling their July2007 pullout plan.

6.  Angry Bush Announces Sanctions against Brits over Threats to Withdraw
{satire}

Washington, DC (Rotters) - The morning after scathing criticisms from the British, in regards to the prison at Guantánamo Bay and threats to withdraw all troops from Iraq, an angry President Bush stated that there would be "severe repercussions" should the British follow through with their threats.

"It has always been the policy of this administration to resolve differences through diplomatic channels," stated Bush in a hastily arranged morning press conference, "but all options will remain on the table. I don't know about in Britain, but here, we can shoot deserters. The world needs to know that they have nuclear weapons and must not be allowed to terrorize those that they disagree with." Bush was responding to a question from a reporter asking if nuclear strikes had been considered.

7. And I heard not an hour ago that the Brit claims his remarks
were taken out of context. That was on MSNBC. So the spin is on!
