Pelosi says it may take a woman to clean up US House
Hit him where it hurts Nancy. A knee to the balls always gets their attention

By Thomas Ferraro

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Nancy Pelosi stands to make life much tougher for President Bush if the Nov. 7 elections net her a powerful job that puts her just two steps behind him.

The 66-year-old California liberal stands to become the first woman to lead the House of Representatives if she and fellow Democrats win control of the chamber from Bush's Republicans.

She vows to ensure Congress acts as an equal to the most powerful man in the world.

Often ignored or even mocked by Bush during his six years as president, Pelosi, now the House Democratic minority leader, told Reuters in an interview: "If we are in charge, he'll have to listen."

1. Drain that Republican swamp, Nancy!
"If we are in charge, he'll have to listen". I don't know if I agree with that statement. He hasn't listened to anyone from his OWN party in a long time, I'm sure he won't let a little thing like a Democratic Congress stand in his way. A few signing statements and Congress just disappears! Dictator Bush listens to no one.

2. At least I feel we will have a fighting chance with her as speaker
And I wouldn't put it past her to push for impeachment as soon as he starts his shit with her. she is no pushover. imo

4. I'm not so sure that wouldn't be a good thing

It would give us good people time to regroup and vote some more of these a holes out in '08. In order for us to undo the shit that has come down these last few years it's to have a thorough house & senate cleaning. I think there are some in both houses that deserve a second look but the number is small.

5. NO movement is better
than movement in the wrong direction. Seriously, I'd be delighted to put the brakes on this trainwreck!

6. I won't be content until they are all impeached, convicted & sent
To the Hague! We need to endorse the ICC simply to allow them to attempt to defend their crimes.

7. She said they won't Impeach Bush...
As far as I am concerned then, they are only accomplices to his crimes no matter what show they put on in an election year. Call for his IMPEACHMENT and imprisonment for crimes against humanity. Then perhaps I will think she has guts.

8. Theres nothing in her past that makes me think she won't do just that
but to preemptively talk about it is not a smart thing to do. imo
after all she has to obtain the office first and I don't see that as doing anything to help get the Democrats elected. those of us who want an impeachment are going to vote Democratic no matter what.

9. Well if that is the case...
This country has fallen far more than I thought it had. But then, the Democrats are only basing a win this November on the Republicans screwing up. I long for the days when Democrats actually really won because they had a platform that was simply stronger, and weren't afraid to talk about it. I have also been told that we can't talk about poverty, the environment, and a host of bread and butter issues either because that doesn't win elections. And with all due respect, I say BS to that. Again, should Democrats win the house and not impeach Bush, I will never trust them again. And yes, that is my litmus test. Too many innocent people have died, been lied to, and their lives forever affected by these bastards. NOT talking about that is actually why I think Americans don't vote more for Democrats. You would be surprised how many Americans would say it's about time if they did.

10. the only people I hear saying the dems don't have a plan is the
re:puke:s themselves. If you will listen to the dems instead of the talking heads you will know that the dems have a platform that pretty much covers all our concerns. Oh, and who do you suggest would be trustworthy then, if not the Democratic party. msm is the ones who are waiting for the re:puke:s to screw up not me and most here.

11. I AM NOT A REPUBLICAN

Perhaps when people realize that there are also DEMOCRATS who post in these forums who have been waiting for SOMETHING MORE than their acqueiscence BS of the LAST SIX YEARS and promises that are never realized because we actually care about this country FIRST, they won't be so quick to come back with BS responses like yours to me.

And I will then expect to see that plan articulated by you in your next response noting how we are going to afford it, and it better not include WAR ON TERROR. And I don't want any links to the DNC, DCCC, DSCC, or any other initials. You say they have a plan, then you should know it.

This is not the Democratic Party I once loved and damn it I am angry about that and think I have a right to be after all that has happened. However, if it is you are either with us or against us here as in other forums, I can always find somewhere else to go.
