Frustrated Armchair Democrat Strategist |
|
If you've watched any of the congressional debates on C-Span, Democrats still get caught without answers to the same old questions.
Why not:
Illegal Immigration The answer is so simple. People would not come here illegally if no one would hire them. Under the Republican watch, no one is enforcing the laws in place. Republicans have promoted corporate greed and allowed businesses to get away with hiring illegals.
And when they accuse Democrats of being for amnesty, why not respond, "Well, under your watch, you have allowed 20 million illegals to stay and work he already - how can you say that is not amnesty?"
Democrats Supported the War Democrats DID NOT support the war. They trusted the President to use diplomacy and instead he rushed to war. Back then, who would have thought that ANY president would have led the country into war under false pretenses.

4. Well unless the Democrat said, "Let's immediately invade and |
|
bomb the shit out of them." the reply would probably fit most. Even for the ones who have not renounced their vote. It just kills me to hear us be silent when people continue to mischaracterize the vote as "a vote for war" when it could have been "a vote for the president to use prudent judgement and only take us to war as a last resort." Dems have continued to let the slide over and over. Irks the hell out of me.

8. The absolute most frustrating part about DU to me is that I read |
|
hundreds of great ideas here and we have not banded together with the powers that be to create a way to funnel the ideas and turn them into positive achievements. It's like, pardon my french, pissing in the wind.
I would give my eye teeth to have some candidate say, "DU please run my campaign"

6. Re: undocumented workers |
|
You are right about hiring being the real issue/crime but the powers that be want to keep the "illegal" status because it allows them to pay less for labor, pay no matching taxes, avoid workplace injury lawsuits and fire at will. In their minds legalizing these workers would only create a need for 20 million MORE undocumenteds to exploit.

7. Yes, you are right - those are the reasons why they are hired |
|
but I think the fact that they ARE hired without any consequences is the HUGE elephant in the room. Maybe I haven't heard enough, but I have yet to hear a single democrat bring this up - not in a simple concise way, anyway.
I watched the Santorum/Casey debate - and Santorum just kept drilling away at Casey for supporting amenesty. When all Casey had to do was say: "Rick, why have you granted amnesty to the 20 mill who are here already by not enforcing the law for the years you've been in charge?"

9. It's unfortunate they can't give common sense responses.... |
|
The reasons why are 1) the intelligent public already can decipher the correct response in their own minds 2) when the con makes one of their inanely stupid points in a debate they often do so expecting the obvious response, so they have set up some kind of second point as a trap.
But if they do have to give a direct response on those issues, the ones you suggest seem very well formulated.
