Biden was simply AWESOME just now with Miles Obrien, blasting Bush |
|
Edited on Fri Oct-13-06 07:33 AM by mtnsnake
He took control of the interview and completely humiliated Bush with his comments. At one point, Miles related to Biden something Biden had proposed about Iraq where Bush said Biden's idea was wrong, and Biden humiliated Bush by asking Miles (and I'm paraphrasing here), "Bush has said and done many things about Iraq and what's he done where he's been right YET? So just because Bush says something now, it doesn't mean it's going to be correct."...and he said it so sarcastically and condescendingly that it was hilarious.
Then, when Miles played a clip of McCain recently blaming the Clinton administration for the North Korean nuclear threat, Biden totally turned the tables on the Bush administration, proving it was BUSH who allowed all the plutonium development in North Korea, leading to the bomb itself, not Clinton.
Biden picked the other side apart. I give Joe Biden an A+++ for the job he did this morning.

6. He wouldn't do it in 2004 - he promised Bush he wouldn't "politicize" Iraq |

during the campaign. That's why Bush had bigname GOPs carrying his water for him everyday, while bigname Dems held their tongues.
Biden also wouldn't back Kerry up on when he THREE times called for Rumsfeld's firing, even after Abu Ghraib Biden wouldn't side with Kerry. Then in Dec 2004, Biden calls for Rumsfeld's firing.
Imagine if Dems had backed Kerry to the hilt in 2003 and 2004 when Bush NEEDED tearing down by a united Dem party.

He mocked Bush so well that I was LOL.
Biden's been one of the more vocal Democrats lately, and I welcome that.
blm, I admire your loyalty to Kerry, but my god you can't always make everything about him. Try and find a copy of the interview with Biden this morning and enjoy the moment! :)

disservice, and especially the Dem party, when they chose to accomodate Bush's request to not make Iraq a campaign issue in 2004.
Then he went around the talk shows slamming the Iraq withdrawal plan Kerry crafted, and then slammed the Kerry-Feingold plan. Then HE goes to Iraq a few weeks later and comes back saying we need a withdrawal plan. He never said one word about being wrong in his attacks on Kerry-Feingold.
Talkk is cheap - and honest talk and ACTIONS are priceless.
I put EVERYTHING in the context of historic significance - blame my strong recall, but that's the way it is for me and a few others here on this board who really understand the connects and the disconnects.

There are substantive differences between the plan he attacked and the plan he supported.

seek a meeting of all the neighboring leaders and involved parties to come up with the points they cam all agree on and develop a framework to work on the ones they don't - that sounds so reasonable, right? Except that was EXACTLY what was in Kerry's plan to begin with when he called for a Dayton Accord type summit of all the regional and Iraqi factions leaders.
Check out his performance then on Bill Maher - it got a lot of heat from DU and Maher.
And Biden was against the withdrawal plan UNTIL he went to Iraq, came back and claimed a withdrawal plan was needed, never once acknowledging the efforts of those who had been saying the same.
And does anyone really think Biden should be excused for not backing Kerry on Rumsfeld's firing and making his deal with Bush to NOT speak out against his leadership on Iraq war before the elections?

19. Not fair - it is a valid point to mention that he held his fire in 2004 |
|
as did several other major Democrats in 2004. (Dean, Clark and Cleland were exceptions who were great).
You no doubt see posts on EVERY Kerry thread, saying why didn't he speak like this in 2004. So, why is that ok, but this not ok. (Kerry actually did speak out each and every day in 2004 - Biden was awful as a surrogate, speaking of his positions rather than the candidate's.

about Bush while being interviewed on national TV. Otherwise, why are you getting so defensive about Kerry when this thread is simply about something another Democrat said today about Bush?
Seriously, if you're going to make this all about Kerry, then how about Kerry walk the same walk and say similarly tough things about Bush as Biden just did on national TV and not just in some email or press release?
I'm no overall fan of Joe Biden, although I don't despise the guy either, but I love how smacked Bush around today and how he mocked Bush, telling Obrien that Bush has no credibility because he's never been right yet, so why should anything that comes out of Bush's mouth now be believable either.

Biden would be good or an improvement. Kerry has said similar things many many times. I simply said that BLM's comment was true and it was important. Seeing that YOU personally hit Kerry for not doing everything perfectly - it is fair that you notice that his support was worse than support in any previous election. (Gore even got better support)

He told a story about visiting Bush and Cheney, recommending that Rummy be fired. Then he added that if it was possible, Cheney should be fired too. Bush said, why? Biden said, name ONE THING either of them has told you about Iraq that turned otu to be true. Dead silence.
