Matthews Boycott Launched!
Edited on Wed Jan-25-06 03:44 PM by Presstitutes
http://openlettertochrismatthews.blogspot.com/

"Chris Matthews is a major opinion leader who has repeatedly compared Democrats to Osama bin Laden, a charge that borders on treason. Matthews is perceived, wrongly, as a responsible and objective mainstream journalist with a reputation for calling it as he sees it. That gives his partisan smears a veneer of credibility that makes them particularly offensive and dangerous in a nation at war. It is wrong for Chris Matthews and MSNBC to politicize the deaths of 3,000 Americans on September 11."

"We are only asking for neutrality and objectivity from Chris Matthews, MSNBC, and the media at large. Unlike the conservative movement’s decades-long strategic campaign to force the media to report only the conservative viewpoint, we want a healthy, free and independent press, providing the public with the information they need to make appropriate choices in a democracy."

1. So, this is what John Aravosis and other Lefty bloggers
were working on....first the website, then the advertisers boycott.

Just go to the linked website, and start clicking on the advertiser links to email.

You are either outraged by Chris Matthews, so will participate, or you are not bothered by him.

Please participate, and keep kicked

46. But do the producers of those products know this?
I just wrote to some that were listed on the site. Here's a sample of what I wrote:

Please stop associating your product with television shows like "Hardball" that compare Democrats to Osama bin Laden. I have been a loyal Toyota customer for 17 years and am very uncomfortable supporting products that advertise with those in the Mainstream media who distort the facts and strive to tear our country apart when we should be coming together.

Sincerely,

23. Chris Matthews to Undergo Psychiatric Treatment
Edited on Wed Jan-25-06 07:11 PM by Gloria
From 2001....

CHRIS MATTHEWS TO UNDERGO PSYCHIATRIC TREATMENT

WASHINGTON -- MSNBC political talk show host and San Franscisco Chronicle columnist Chris Matthews is reportedly preparing to enter a private psychiatric hospital on the advice of close family and friends.

Undisclosed sources report that Matthews, the tow-haired host seen on the hour-long "Hardball" program, has inexplicably started screaming at the top of his lungs. "We don't know what's gotten into him," one puzzled staffer stated. "With the exit of President Clinton, Chris has just lost it. It's as if he's been on drugs and now is being forced to go off them cold turkey. He's just trying to hold on by digging up anything he can find about Clinton."

Other sources close to the situation thinks the Clinton departure is only part of the story. "Chris is facing off against Fox's Bill O'Reilly, who is losing it more and more often," said a Hardball producer.

"Chris feels that to compete, he has to raise the volume and get more into the faces of his guests."

Matthews, who once worked for Democrat House Leader Tip O'Neill and calls himself a Democrat, seems to have undergone a marked personality change, according to a close family friend. "He seems to have studied the GOP playbook carefully and it's taken over his brain. And, on top of that, he seems to be echoing the teachings of the Pope a lot more."

"I'm afraid that if he has Peggy Noonan on as a guest one more time, he will be lost forever."

Other associates fear that Matthews will have a stroke if his shouting continues unabated. "The blood vessels on his forehead are already bulging in an alarming manner and he's beginning to stutter. We had hoped that by pitting him against James Carville he would have come to his senses and realized that he couldn't compete at this level of aggression indefinitely. But it's apparent that Chris can no longer see reality and we may have to cut the show back to its original half hour in order to control the situation," commented a MSNBC executive.

36. Chris Matthews Smears Moore with FAKE Bin Laden Audio
I am confident that this audio is fake. I make my case for this here:

http://balzac.wordpress.com/

Excerpt:

We can sort all media releases allegedly from Al Qaeda members into two types:

1) Verifiable, authentic releases

This type includes videos of known Al Qaeda members faces with audio which is synched to the lip-movement.

2) Unverifiable, possibly inauthentic releases

This includes all text and audio. This also includes video in which the face is obscured, making identification impossible.

“But wait! The CIA can do voice-print analysis!” - My answer: The CIA can, but you can’t. That means you must believe the same CIA in which allowed George Tenet to sit behind Colin Powell, jiggling his little vial of fake WMDs.

For that reason, all audio is unverifiable to the public. All text is also unverifiable because even though an expert can offer an expert opinion, the public cannot verify and must rely on these experts.

That leaves nothing but the video clips.

Do you really believe the Osama audio is authentic?

Please give some feedback. It's important to get our position statements right with regard to challenging the Bush Terrorism Psyop.

47. Thanks for posting that.
I referred to the same tape from my diagram.

"There is, however, one fake Bin Laden Video."

For some reason the link to www.CooperativeResearch.org from my diagram isn't working right now.

That's why I specify that the video must have audio synched to the lips, I agree with what you brought up about the translator as well.

Nevertheless, I'm confidnet Osama is an accomplished terrorist. Some speculate that video was from one of his Bin Laden's doubles. All I know is that it's not Osama and CNN keeps on refering to it as if it were him.

That's the crap I'm sick of seeing. Zarqawi is a big hoax. The latest Bin Laden audio is fake. It's time to call a spade a spade.

45. I'm not so sure Matthews was being that sinister
I mean, Bin Laden apparently did "borrow" many of the talking points of the left, and Matthews was observing this:

"Why is he doing it? Why is he trying to track what he picks up in the Internet and from the media as the lingo of the left in America, like Moore? Why would he start to talk like Moore?"

Personally I think the answer to this question is, because the admin. concocted the tape to help boost Bush and embarrass democrats. I don't CM was purposely and directly saying "Michael Moore is like Osama Bin Laden".

51. Chris Matthews
You're giving him the benefit of the doubt and he doesn't deserve that consideration. The last time I saw a CM show was a year ago and he was whining about the movie Million Dollar Baby. As a result of CM's "review" I went to the movie that very afternoon. I will join the "boycott".
You asked, "Why is he doing it?" Talking like Moore. He's doing it because he wishes to denigrate Moore. That's why the MSM will not report or comment upon anything in an honest way. Anyone with any sense knows the Bin Laden tape is a fake. It just falls into what is now a predictable pattern. Bush & Company's blunders, get caught in more lies etc. and a diversion is immediately called for. Running out a Bin Laden tape is always good for several days of "analysis" and speculation to take folks minds off the latest outrage perpetrated by the White House. Spinning it toward criticism of the Democratic Party, disparage liberals and scare the bjesus out of the believers - works every time.

Chris Matthews appears to have an affable personality. He smiles and plays dumb. If you're not fact-checking, it's easy to fall for his projection of false integrity. It took me a while to see through the false integrity of Brokaw, Russert, and Blitzer, but the longer I've watched them, while fact-checking, the wiser I've become, and the more overtly partisan they've become.

48. My letter to Verizon
Sent this evening to the Verizon email addresses listed in the call to boycott:

It has recently come to my attention that Verizon advertizes on "Hardball", a current-event analysis program hosted by Chris Matthews. I know of Mr. Matthews: he is the talking head who compares me, as a liberal concerned about the direction that the White House and Republican Party are taking this country, to Osama bin Laden and other terrorists out to destroy America.

I have been a Verizon Wireless customer for three years now. My two year contract expired a year ago, and since then I have continued under the previous terms with no commitment. Your sponsorship of Chris Matthews and his bias against Democrats and other progressive -- in other words, your sponsorship of bigotry against ME -- has made me reconsider my use of Verizon as my cell phone company.

Regretfully,

:dem:

I was polite, respectful & didn't mention any political party.

I tend to think they take messages more seriously if you don't mention word democrat or republican

63. Stopped watching Tweety long ago
I had always thought Matthews to be a straight shooter until his endless praise of *'s "package" upon landing on the aircraft carrier to announce the infamous "Mission Accomplished" speech.

The dipshit was so focused on the Presidential Member, it made me ill but did wake me up. Boycott the prick indeed!!!!

65. open letter campaign

115000 Visitors And Counting... Chris Matthews Needs to Apologize
Open Letter To Chris Matthews has received over 50,000 70,000 115,000 visitors in 4 5 days! And thanks to you, MSNBC has been flooded with phone calls, letters, and emails. Feeling the heat, Chris Matthews said we "misunderstood" what he said when he compared the world's most wanted terrorist to an American filmmaker. Matthews then went on to repeat his assertion and gave an open platform to Republican Joe Scarborough to slander Democrats further.

Let Matthews and MSNBC know how you feel: hardball@msnbc.com or (202) 824-6707

Once can't comment on what one hasn't seen. I've e-mailed Matthews and explained why his talking head will no longer grace our TV screen.

70. In what should be another intervention by Obviousman, Chris Matthews...
... should be upbraided for asserting that the Gallop poll is the most reputable polling service available. He said they were the most respected.

Obviousman should have leapt to the task of informing him that, no, Gallop is neither the most respected nor the most accurate. Perhaps Zogby or some other polling service might be but not Gallop, they of the overrepresented republican sample!

73. From the FAQ
"Chris Matthews is a major opinion leader who has repeatedly compared Americans concerned about the war in Iraq to Osama bin Laden, a charge that borders on accusing over half the American public with treason.

77. I thought about that too.
Here's a show that virtually NO ONE watches. Maybe because it's on at 5 and 7, but literally no one watches. I could probably stand naked in Macy's window and attract more attention than this clown does.

78. For A Show w/ Little Ratings - It Sure Making News on Net
Why is it the religious right-wing nuts always are successful in getting shows canceled? It's because they call, e-mail, fax.

Doing nothing accomplishes nothing.

75. I Just Had Interesting Conversation w/ Asst. To MSNBC President
First I want to say I used to work in radio. When you work in TV/Radio you are in your little bubble and patting each other on the pack is common practice - we're the best, we got the story first, aren't we amazing and wonderful. Our viewers love and appreciate us. Look at the numbers, it proves so.

To be negative in your station is to lose your job.

So this nice gal has no clue really, because she's pumped up with positive memos, e-mails, conversations all day long, year after year.

To hear me ranting was quite a shock to her ears.

In the end, she says - what are you trying to convey? I said, NBC, MSNBC no longer deserves progressive, liberal or democratic viewers. There is a movement now, which I hope will make an impact as it does when the right-wingers go balistic over TV programming, and your network will lose us as viewers.

She was pleasant, listened and said she would pass on the information. I encourage you all to call.

83. IF YOU WANT IT BOYCOTT
LOCAL SPONSORS, ESPECIALLY FIRST-TIMERS, OF REICH-WING MEDIA ONLY NEED A FEW WELL THOUGHT THROUGH PHONE CALLS AND THE STATION LOSES THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IT WOULD HAVE MADE OFF THE SPONSOR. Clear Channel losing money stabs straight at the heart of bushco.
