John Ashcroft Admits He is a 'Sinner'

http://www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003252621

<snip>

Ashcroft also suggests the American Civil Liberties Union opposed the Patriot Act partly to make money and add members.

Elsewhere, Ashcroft, a leading evangelical, admits he is a sinner, explaining, “I’m unkind on occasion, and I am selfish.” He’s an active
Christian “because I am not good, because I need help.” Ask about specific “sins,” Ashcroft says he has “never had a mixed drink,” never smoked a cigarette, and if tempted by another woman he would immediately call “my wife.”

At the interview's close, Ashcroft makes this plea: “I just hope that in meeting people, they’ll understand that I am not as bad as they thought I was.”

4. Unkind on occasion?
That's the asshole who dragged out a 150 year old statute against pirating that had never been previously employed in order to punish folks who boarded a ship engaged in illegal mohagony importing to do nothing more than hold a protest sign.

Fucking asshole.

7. That's the first time I've heard that "Active Christians" are
"not good" and that they need help ...

So, all of us liberals are good and don't need professional help? Wow ... I never needed professional help ... except in the freeptards' eyes ... and their posts assure me that they're the ones needing emergency help ...

8. If mixed drinks and cigarettes are the worst sins he can think of
and being unkind and selfish, then he needs to do a little more soul searching, methinks.

9. When Carter said similar things the right wing went nuts about it.
They still bring it up. They will probably say this is a very christian and admirable thing since Ashcroft said it though.
