So BushCo has the audacity to claim that 9/11 might have been prevented...

Remarks by the President After Visit With the Staff of the National Security Agency

<snip>

We know that two of the hijackers who struck the Pentagon were inside the United States communicating with al Qaeda operatives overseas. But we didn't realize they were here plotting the attack until it was too late.

Here's what General Mike Hayden said -- he was the former director here at NSA. He's now the Deputy Director of the National Intelligence -- Deputy Director of National Intelligence -- and here's what he said earlier this week: "Had this program been in effect prior to 9/11, it is my professional judgment that we would have detected some of the 9/11 al Qaeda operatives in the United States, and we would have identified them as such."

So how many warnings did the administration have before 9/11? Something like 50+.

1. Had he paid attention to his PDB, 9/11 might have been prevented
Had he paid attention to the Hurricane warnings, Katrina damage could have been mitigated more.

Ass.

5. unbefrigginlievable
Didn't the Phoenix Memo say that bin laden was sending students to flight schools in the U.S? The memo was ignored and the guy who brought it up demoted. But we're supposed to believe that Bushler would have listened to reports that were obtained by spying on US citizens without warrants.

6. This Is All Such A Complete Mind Fuck
I really resent being treated in this way. My only consolation is that more and more people every day are seeing this administration for what they are -- Fascists.

11. Yes, but by the time EVERYONE knows
it will be too late. A 92 year old lady called the Thom Hartmann show today and was saying how the whole administration should be in jail, etc... Imagine how many presidents she has been through. For her to say that made me realize that this isn't just another corrupt administration, there is something very, very scary going on here.

9. Hayden was the same Numbnuts who didn't know the 4th Amendment
He actually thought that all NSA had to do was to decide if a search was "reasonable" to proceed. He had no clue that the ACTUAL LANGUAGE of the Fourth Amendment requires a WARRANT based on PROBABLE CAUSE.

12. "Bin Laden determined to strike inside U.S."
You can't get more direct than that. Bush ignored it. Does he honestly think he would have paid attention to any other warnings he may have been given? No, it's just a feeble attempt to justify his stupidity in breaking the law.
Bush didn't pay attention to the intelligence he did have, it would have made no difference if he had more intelligence to ignore.

14. Say WHAT????
>>> it is my professional judgment that we would have detected some of the 9/11 al Qaeda operatives in the United States, and we would have identified them as such."<<<
Correct me if I've got my facts crossed up but didn't they KNOW about most of the guys that flew the planes into the Twin Towers?

All I can think is maybe it could have been prevented, but not by BUSH! He's too busy looking out for the "gool ole' boys".

16. notice he didn't say that.......
....they could have stopped it, he just said they could've learned about them which is a lie too. The 9/11 commission discovered they did know about them before 9/11, they just didn't do anything about them!!
