Let's Say Republicans Win 2006 Congressional Elections. What Next?
Edited on Fri Oct-13-06 01:36 PM by The Cleaner
Don't laugh - it's happened before.

In 2000, many evangelical Christians stayed away from the polls because of reports Bush had a drinking problem. But Bush was selected anyway.

In 2004, it was another tight race but with the aid of an Osama Bin Lyin' video just days before the election, Repubs managed to pull off yet another win.

In 2006, it sure does look like a landslide. Dems are poised to take both the house and the Senate, altering the balance of power towards the moderate left. Scandal after scandal is rocking the Republican party, and its base is pissed. They're losing faith in their revered Fuehrer.

What if the Repubs win in some kind of surprise victory? What would that mean, and what are its implications? And...how would we Dems react to such an obvious election deception?

This thought makes me want to fight even harder for a Democratic victory. We all should be giving it all we got, because I don't put anything past this foul administration.

2. Surprise victory my ass.
If they win they shall have stolen it like that did 2004, 2002, and 2000. Nothing will be forgiven. Nothing will be forgotten.

What'S next? Head should roll -- that's what's next. Sharpen the guillotine. /* sarcasm */

3. They will have stolen it, and opponents will need to study how
democratic forces eventually prevailed against authoritarian regimes in South America and Eastern Europe.

6. ...
Pull out as much money out of circulation in the economy as possible and talk your friends into doing the same thing. Try to reduce consumption as close to nothing as possible.

5. their margins will be severely reduced at any rate..
which COULD cause some crossover by "moderates" to us or Independent.

Of course, it will be stolen - that is a given - but there will be no national investigation until we are in. So it is up to the state Dem machinery which should be stronger now due to Dean's efforts.

8. Well, maybe a big, deep hole in the ground...
with a nuclear/biological/chemical blast/survival shelter with a big steel vault door, and lots and lots of emergency supplies and ten years worth of freeze-dried food... (and it's own power (retractable solar panels/wind generator/batteries/backup generator and fuel tank), water well/water treatment/underground septic system/composting capability, filtered positive pressure atmosphere and a hidden satellite dish (gotta have TV for as long as it lasts) and a nice library and perhaps a nice storage bin full of seeds and farming equipment)(too bad it'd be too much to keep farm animals (cows, chickens, pigs, oxen, horses, etc))... yup, dig a deep hole and crawl into it (to avoid the consequences owing to the mis-leadership of the Fascist/Authoritarian States of America; whether it's some war(s) or avoidable global catastrophe or all of the above).

Well, it might very well be (or at least lead to) the end of the world (as we know it). What's China going to do when we default on our debt and Bush or his Republican replacement tells them to go to hell? What will we do when Korea achieves a functional ICBM? Iran with the Bomb? Global Climate Catastrophe? International Pandemic (potentially killing a couple of billion or more people; scores of millions in the U.S. alone)? Unstable world with more wars for resources such as... water; while we're being ruled by what used to call themselves Republicans? Remember, these people are known for starting wars and making the worst possible decisions on every decision, especially the most important ones?

A hole in the ground might just be the safest place to be...
(alas, "they" would probably find you and want your stuff (depending on what actually happens))

Nah... hiding or avoiding a problem never solves it. Okay, time to come up with a new plan...
