Arnold Schwarzenegger would be a democrat anywhere in the south |
|
He may have an "R" by his name but the freepers and other right-wing conservatives hate his guts. The liberals also hate his guts.
The people in the mushy center seem to like him. That's partly because he is a "star" that has a personality and stlye has always trumped substance in politics.
His positions are very moderate for California and would be a democrat ANYWHERE in the south. In fact, I don't think his positions very much at all from the DLC from what I can tell.

1. Arnold is actually a pathological liar. So I believe he's therefore |
|
mandated to have an (R) next to his name no matter where he runs.

2. I don't think many of the nice Democrats in the south would accept |
|
the gropenator's lifestyle as documented in various pictures which can be found on the "internets and tubes" this very day. The more liberated southern Democrats would be suspicious of his ties to the likes of Enron. I can't figure out how Californians can have taken the screwing they did earlier in the decade and then vote for the political ally of the principals in that screwing. No, not even southern Democrats would be fond of that Austrian crypto-fascist.

3. i don't know if i think that or not. |
|
i think he would have strong appeal to males in the south, for one thing.
for another his anti-tax stance is very appealing to the magic believing republicans.
never realizing that ''lower''{they're really only ''low'' for the rich] taxes means increased burdens for the middle, working, and poor classes.

6. He is not moderate for CA--he is a corporate tool with liberal cultural |
|
wrapper. Eventually, people are going to figure out that cultural issues are bait for a bait and switch. You vote based on abortion, gay marriage, or god in schools (for or against any of them) and you get the same middle class killing corporate economic policy.
Just as those in Washington don't give a shit about the conservative evangelical values they claim to support, Arnold doesn't give a rat's ass about anything except the money people.

7. As A Lifelong Southerner I Can Say He Would Never Win In The South |

Most successful southern Democratic politicians are more or less religious... Arnold is about as secular as you can get...
