Edited on Fri Oct-13-06 02:03 PM by RGBolen
Had to find best link sorry

PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) - A jury in Philadelphia on Friday said Wal-Mart Stores Inc. The world's biggest retailer, must pay $78.47 million in damages to current and former Pennsylvania employees for forcing them to work "off the clock" or during rest breaks.

On Thursday, a state jury in Philadelphia found that Wal-Mart violated Pennsylvania labor laws by failing to pay employees for "off the clock" work or for rest breaks.

2. I heard that on the radio news this AM, right after a Wal-Mart commercial
Nice timing.

forcing workers to work off the clock and on and on.

I worked for Wal-Mart in 71-72 when Mr Sam was the boss. Me and a couple of other stock boys had to come in early on Saturday to put up all the MADE IN AMERICA signs around the cash registers. No more. We worked part time but they gave us every opportunity to get as many hours as possible and worked with our schedule. Things have changed for the worse.

4. I hope all the other states sue WalMart too.
They deserve it. Sam had a good thing going, but his descendants are just greedy.

The retailer is facing similar suits around the country. Wal-Mart settled a Colorado case for $50 million and is appealing a $172 million award handed down last year by a California jury.

7. Dang straight, they deserve it.
I never shop at WalMart. I discourage anyone who wants to shop at WalMart to rethink their plan, and I shame my cheap liberal friends who shop there anyway. Yessir, I'm a real pain in the buttski if you're a WalMart fan! :hi:
