Kerry-'Take Gavel Out Of Hastert's Hands & Wipe Smirk Off Bush's Face'
Bush Says Country ‘Better Off’ With Hastert in Power - Kerry Says Take the Gavel Out of His Hands and Wipe the Smirk Off W
Posted by Pamela Leavey
October 12th, 2006

Smirky stood shoulder-to-shoulder with perv enabler “House Speaker Dennis Hastert on Thursday, offering a powerful boost in his moment of need and declaring the country “better off” with Hastert in power.”

“I am proud to be standing with the current speaker of the House who is going to be the future speaker of the House,” Bush said as he opened a speech to raise money for two Illinois congressional candidates.

Not so fast Smirky… John Kerry and the entire Democratic Party have other ideas about who’s going to be the next speaker of the house and it ain’t going to be Denny. Kerry used the Bush-Hastert appearance today to raise money for Democratic candidates, calling it “a meeting of the no accountability caucus of the Republican Party.”

“Denny Hastert has been the longest-running Republican speaker in history,” Kerry, D-Massachusetts., wrote in an e-mail to supporters. “But in 25 days, we can take the gavel out of his hands — and the smirk off George W. Bush’s face.”

Kerry’s email went out earlier today to his national 3 million person email list to raise money for John Laesch, running against House Speaker Denny Hastert, and four other veteran candidates, including Patrick Murphy in Pennsylvania, Leonard Boswell in Iowa, Lee Ballenger in South Carolina and Colonel Mike Weaver in Kentucky.

1. Kapow. Bush, thick as he is, ought to know better than to stand by
the Speaker in the current political climate. Republican strategists are likely stunned by the move.

And neither Bush nor Hastert can compete with our Democrats. Kerry's remark is consumable and nutritious for Democratic voters. It makes the point in bright colors that the Republicans have lost their way and that "Speaker Pelosi" would be a whole lot better a guide.

5. I take this as evidence that any future Kerry campaign
will not be the same as in 2004. His message is coming through loud and clear. The next hurdle is getting the lazy media to do its job.
