Should we let the Republicans clean up their own messes until '08? |
|
If we regain the House and/or Senate they'll do nothing but blame us for just about everything.
I mean, they blame us now and they've had complete control of our government for six years.
I think it's imperative to get them out of power ASAP but part of me thinks that maybe we should just creep up a bit then pounce in '08.
What do you think?

Perhaps in fact, as the disaster they have created is going to take ten or more years to clean up, perhaps we ought to lose elections until 2016.
Brilliant.

It would just get much worse if they stayed in power.

7. IMHO, if we take the house and the senate in '06 |
|
and do nothing to clean up the mess for 2 years, this will only hurt us in '08. I'd be pretty pissed if the people we put in office in a few weeks were more interested in having these issues in the '08 election than actually fixing any of the current problems. If those who get elected want a good campaign strategy '08, show the voters how they made things better rather than running on how bad things are.

But it will be daily show prep for talk hosts and TV pundits. Once back in power the Dems will have to have thick skin becuase it will be a media bloodbath. You know...that liberal media will be after them again. :sarcasm:

12. Two more years? Whenever you think it can't get worse it gets worse. |

by the day. Do you realize how many people they can kill, impoverish, gag-order, and imprison in two years?

10. I'd be afraid of the further damage the bad guys could do, left |
|
unrestrained for another two years. Which, then, does NOT guarantee that we can just creep on in and yank it all back in '08. I'd be fearful that the damage these fiends WILL do may well be irreparable. Besides the fact that there'd be ANOTHER two years of no accountability. You HAVE to know that, if the republi-CONS do, somehow, get reelected and retain their majorities in both houses of Congress, they WILL take that (and trumpet it EVERYWHERE) as a further validation by the people that they're doing the "right" thing, and that despite what the polls say, we ARE on the "right" track, and that this just proves everybody loves the status quo they've carefully set up and maintained. Don't forget - after 2004, bush even said he'd HAD his "accountability moment," in "winning" that election - as though he only had to face a single instant of answering to the voters in all his time in office.
It's just too big a risk. OF COURSE they'll blame everything on us if we win and start putting the brakes on this runaway train. But when do they ever do otherwise? Hell, they do that NOW. ALL THE TIME. And they'll keep doing that after November whether they're turned out of power or not.
It's a risk I, for one, am not willing to take. Gotta stop them any possible way we can, and at any point in time that we can. Just gotta stop them, PERIOD.

If we can "drain the swamp" for the next two years, we can get a head start on rebuilding in 09 and beyond.

I really don't think Democratic candidates have been trying that hard for the past few years, just giving them a chance, but they've had enough time, their turn is over. After Democrats take back control, I think next time a party other than the repukes should be given a chance

16. Yes, cowering and whining "please don't hurt me" has certainly |
|
been an effective strategy for Dems. Can we just this once stop the frack worrying about what they or the media is saying. You'll lose every time when you let the other side choose the ground.

chance, they will burn it all down and hide anything and everything. They will make it worse, so NO. Can't give them anymore chances.
