If The Dems Don't Filibuster Alito -- It Is The End Of The USA
I'm not sure our Congressmen or very many other people understand that the Great Experiment will have ended as a failure.

We will be left to build another nation on the foundation of what used to be the United States of America.

Hyperbole? I think not.

13. I think it is Hyper-hyperbole.
Me thinks it it chicken-little run amok.

I am no Alito fan to be usre. but he is one of nine and maybe the fifth of nine, But not withstanding the numbers.

THe right to an abortion, fettered though it may be...is settled law. Roe will never be reversed.

THe GOP does not want that to happen...THey just want to talks about it.

WHat will happen if it ever cam to that... wopuld be the offering of a COnsaitutional amendment guarnateeing the right of Privacy and it woulf pass in virtually all states with the support of Libertarians an no -religious Conservatives. within a year and be accompanied by a Democratic Landslide.

THen it would be Federal Law

6. When no one stands up to Power, there is no freedom. We have
a one party state and Alito is just another piece of the puzzle to cement Republican power forever. Remember, these assholes have said they want to destroy the opposition and make a permanent majority party. I take them at their word. Unfortunately, the Senate Democrats don't. Better to die fighting than to live on your knees.

7. Well the Democratic
Party was in control of the government for a very long time until the Repukes found their winning ways. We may be down for a while, but I have faith in both the American people and the system. Our time will come. One thing in our favor. In 2008, bush is out, and I don't think the Repukes have any body they are all willing to line up behind. Their strongest general election candidate is McCain, but the base hate him and he will never get the Repuke nomination. On the other hand, we're going to nominate Hillary, and I don't think she can win the general election.

We'll be back one day, and we will take up where we left off on making America, and the world, a better place.
Peace!

12. I feel pessimistic
everyday. Although sometimes I change my reasons. I'll see some situation in a brighter light, but some other one in a darker shadow. Basically, we have to win elections. If we can't clean up the system to ensure honest elections, and ALSO convince the American voter to vote for us and our positions, then we deserve to get our asses handed to us. Which is what has been happening.

AS you can see by this statement, while I firmly believe there were electoral shenanigans going on, I'm not quite convinced that they were the only reason that we lost the last 3 elections. They shouldn't even have been close.

9. The result? One party rule!
Once we cross this line, what will it require to gain things back? I am very concerned what this will mean for us all. The fix may not be a pretty one.

10. ... a HUGH!1 nail in the coffin of our republic.

Though, looking on the bright side, I believe it will eventually backfire on the neocons.

14. Have a glass of wine, shed a few tears, then come back to the fight.
Assuming Alito gets in, someone on this board said the number of Supremes isn't written in stone. Another poster confirmed it. So here's the plan: we win back power, boost the Supremes by 2 or 3 or how many we're in the mood for and put a bunch of young, liberal judges in for life. A side benefit will be watching Republican toupees fly through the air when their heads explode.

O'Connor. Roberts is looking like a hypocrite already. But it's not over if we have have fair elections in November this year. If we play things right, we'll take over at least one House of Congress.
