......the Torture Bill yet, to my knowledge.....I thought he had only 10 days to either sign it or veto it.....after the ten days are up isn't it automatically law? Am I missing something?

2. he didn't get the bill until the 10th. |
|
So he has until the 20th.
I suspect there's an effort to put it off until after the election, somehow.

3. He doesn't really want his name on that thing. |
|
History can then see it as the work of the Congress--freaking fools that they are.

5. He doesn't have to sign it |
|
If he doesn't sign it within 10 days and Congress is in session, it becomes law. If Congress isn't in session, it doesn't become law. That's called a pocket veto. Case law, to my knowledge, is divided on the subject of whether a seasonal adjournment like what Congress is currently on counts.

6. His signing statement is probably so complicated that it hasn't |
|
been completed yet. I can hardly wait how he reacts to this bill that was just about what he and Cheney wanted. No doubt, Bush* will take away everyone's civil rights with this signing statement.

9. He has 30 days on this one - he hasn't signed it because |
|
he is waiting til right before the election, so they can make a big show about it.

I heard that 10/17 is the day scheduled for the signing - - this from a friend who is a lawyer for several detainees. The laywers are all hustling to file briefs before this becomes law shame on all of us

15. Even Shithead knows that if he signs that thing, there is no going back. |
|
No going back as in very, very bad for we American citizens. :(
THAT is how big of a change to 100s of years of the 'law of the land' being the rule and not the exception. Now it will be that the law is interpreted (and executed) by the WRONG branch. Only one branch would rule over two other lame-duck branches.
Signing the bill would make him a dictator on paper and by law. Unless the SCOTUS steps in and stops this madness. Which I know they won't.
