"The Democrat Who Believed Polls Before the Election": a short story
Once upon a time...

He read some threads on Democratic Underground, which trumpeted pre-election polls saying that Democrats would destroy the Republicans on Election Day, and regain the majority. So, he got all complacent, didn't do anything for his local candidates, and the Republicans won and retained the majority.

The end.

2. did you hear about the other democrat who saw the polls and
still did their best? knowing they couldnt take anything for granted they went to the polls and saw democrats waiting in very long lines and knew the polls were right and it would be a landslide. and they got home and exit polls and all common sense agreed but somehow, some mysterious way, the hated republicans stole another election?

here we are, and here we will go again, voting en masse, probably record turnouts again, and we will see what nov 8 brings.

3. Excellent point!
There are so many Democrats, even here at DU, who are strutting about how bad we are and how the Dems are going to kick the Freepers' asses, how we are going to march Bush and Cheney off to the Hague. Yada, yada, yada. Damn, the election has not even taken place yet. Let's actually win the election first and take control of one or both houses of congress first before we break our arms patting ourselves on the back about how great we are.
