No Choice for women? No Sex for Republicans.
If they want to take away a woman's choice, I think republicans should not be allowed to partake in sex with pro-choice women or men for that matter.

Think of it like the soup nazi from Seinfeld, "NO SeX for u!"

Seriously friends, after writing faxing and calling Senators from about 23 states, I'm frustrated.

My mother btw has cut off my idiot repuke stepfather. We shall see in a couple of weeks whether this mouth breathing idiot still views women's choice as a non-issue. Go MOM!

I buy blue and support only organizations that are not hostile to progressive issues this great American cut off would just be an extension of way progressives do business.

Oh and those Dem senators that are willing to sell me and my choices up the river can look forward their early retirement because I will not support them. Some might see this as a non-issue but that is because it isn't their rights that are up for debate. (nuff said)

We are in this together.

1. A lot of left wing and moderate men are antichoice at heart
and would be perfectly happy to see abortion declared illegal, since they aren't going to have to assume any risk from it.

Get a vibrator and cut 'em all off.

Women can be CEO's, Astronauts and Brain Surgeons but they aren't allowed to make decisions about their own reproductive choice. :wtf:

31. Thanks YOY and my apologies to...
...all the TRUELY pro-choice men everywhere. I believe most who claim they are pro-choice actually are. But there are always a few whose attitudes towards choice for women is at best, disingenuous, pretentious and about a deep as water in a thimble. Like bu$h calls himself a Christian, they call themselves 'pro-choice' - when it's politically expedient for them to do so.

Tsk.

THANKS for being male AND Pro-choice.

39. No problem at all! My pleasure.
Edited on Wed Jan-25-06 08:44 PM by YOY
When confronted with the religious male anti-choice rhetoric I have found a good defense to be (and I suppose it would for for anti-choice females as well) this:

"If you are so anti-abortion, then why don't you work towards a world where any woman would be thrilled to bring a new life into it (but still had the right to not do so if she so chooses)."

Works like a charm...if they call you an idealist then call them one right back at them for thinking a world that makes abortion illegal would be a better place.

2. The Lissistrata civil resistance action.
From the play with the same name - women stommed a was once in Ancient Greece. And they used since. Unfortunately, in redneck-land, the women are unaware of their worth as people.

5. I think education is at
the center of this. Women are still taught in some areas that they are not being a "good girl" if they aren't being a submissive wife. It still amazes me that women will vote exactly as their husbands because "he knows best."

6. If Someone Is That Against What Their Mate Stands For, Just Divorce Them.
Holding back sex is grounds for divorce and looked upon as cruel in many states. This action if taken too far for too long would undoubtedly tear the family relation apart anyway, so why not just go straight to divorce if they are that bitterly against their mates beliefs? If they are that incompatible, heck with games and drawn out abuse, just get the divorce and be done with it.

but did you believe we would be having a discussion on whether Roe v Wade being overturned. Did we think that in 5 years that criminal in the WH would of rolled back civil rights and privacy like he has done. In desparate times sometimes desparate measures are needed.

34. Why is that?
When insurance will cover Viagra but not birth control until we passed laws in some states requiring it. For the life of me, I can't understand why reproductive choice always takes a back seat? On the face of it I could go off half cocked and make a disparaging remark but I don't see that gaining me any further understanding of my opposition. We have had 30 some odd years for everyone to get used to the idea of equality but yet some things like abortion and contraception still to this day remain just out of reach. Sorry for run on but I am thinking out loud.

35. Not enough women in gov't....
...methinks. But I guess if the gov't was full of Repube women, it'd be the same - if not worse!

We need more progressives - male and female - in gov't. But, with the current cabal in power, we're a loooong way from that.

*sigh*

We're going back to the 1950s - and in some ways, the freakin stone age.

27. Neocon versus Conservative
Edited on Wed Jan-25-06 06:09 PM by YOY
I find the key differentiator between the two to be the fact that one can debate a conservative and a neocon simply insults you, does not discuss the topic at hand, and waves the flag without merit (and afterward wonder why you despise them so...you obviously must be the hateful one!)

Edited on Wed Jan-25-06 05:37 PM by Triana
"well you may not like Alito's ideologies but he is qualified for the position."

AMAAAAAZING how UNaffected and smug males - even progressive ones - are about Alito. It's not THEIR problem. THEY can't get pregnant and so they don't give a rat's ass whether a woman has a right to choose or not. "Oh well. He's qualified" is the sentiment?

OH - SO THE MAN IS QUALIFIED TO MAKE DECISIONS FOR ME AS TO WHAT I MAY OR MAY NOT DO WITH *MY* BODY AND MY LIFE?

I DON'T THINK SO!

I wonder if my male friend would be so smug and consider Alito "qualified" if Alito would have the SAME amount of power over HIS body and HIS life if confirmed?
