NewsMaxs' Headlines today. .(no "bias" there, right?)
Somehow I got on their mailing list, and I get a list of their headlines from time to time. Today I noticed a "racheting up" of the screech factor:

Joan Rivers: Mel Gibson Should Die
Dalai Lama: 'Mischievous' Muslims Hurting Islam
Dick DeVos: 'Thrilled' If Roe v. Wade Overturned
Rep. Shays: Abu Ghraib More Porn Than Torture
Bill Clinton: Power Shift Coming in November
States Making It Easy for Felons to Vote
Liberal 'Air America' Files for Bankruptcy
Rep. Murtha Says 'Screw' Republicans
Fox News’ Steve Doocy Finds Happy Marriage

1. You too?
I'm assuming that a 'friend' waggishly slipped them my name. It's been about three months now, and out of morbid fascination, I can't bring myself to have it taken off. I too got that Joan Rivers one, but I never read such stuff on an empty stomach. I'll wait till morning.

2. One of my Repugs friends send me stuff from then all....
the time. I am amazed how they can twist a story around from one already in mainstream. It almost like that rag Jeff Gannon was allegedly a reporter for. :puke:

3. I don't think they claim to be "fair and balanced."
They come right out and say that Hitler was "their kind of guy."

5. Oh, no! They are funded by Dickey Scaife.
Edited on Sat Oct-14-06 11:40 AM by Maat
I'm sure if it is direct funding, or passed on through another organization; however, they have been financed in the past by that notorious multi-millionaire who wants to promulgate hardright propaganda.

Let me find the link. Here it is:
http://conwebwatch.tripod.com/stories/2004/soros.html .

*******************************Quote****************************
NewsMax founder and CEO Christopher Ruddy worked as a reporter for Scaife's newspaper in Pittsburgh, and Scaife is a financial backer of NewsMax -- the third largest shareholder, as ConWebWatch has documented. The value of Scaife's NewsMax investment is presumably in the millions, especially given that NewsMax did not make any money for at least the first five years of its existence.
