I need help and advice...

I had a really terrifying experience yesterday and I am not sure that I dealt with it correctly. I am new here and I am not sure how to proceed. I thought maybe some of you nice folks here at DU could give me advice.

I have a Kerry sticker on my car, a lot of us do, right? This is America, right? I mean we do still have the right to express ourselves; at least I used to think so. I stopped to get gas at a station close to my house. I was filling my car when a truck load of “freepers” pulled up behind me at the next pump. They had American flag decals and “W” stickers all over their truck, even on the front bumper…how strange is that? I don’t know if they were drunk or what but they were very loud and aggressive, two of them were carrying guns in holsters in plain sight. As soon as I saw them I began to get concerned. Why do people need to carry guns like it was the old west?

I was hoping the gas would pump a little faster so I could get out of there. One of them spotted my Kerry sticker and approached my car. He say’s to me “So you voted for that loser huh”? Before I really thought I responded “No, I didn’t vote for Bush” The freeptards face turned red and came even closer. I am really getting worried now…. So he walks right up to me and yells “faggot”! I have no idea where that came from since I am not gay. I suppose that “rethugs” think that all Democrats are gay…..They have such a narrow view of everything I suppose it makes sense.

So now I am wondering what is going to happen next? This nut job has a gun strapped to his side and he is really mad and most likely drunk. I am thinking he is going to shoot me...nope….He now yells “I am going to kick your “faggoty ass”!

Well I guess getting an ass kicking is better than being shot. Too bad we now live in a country where you have to choose…

As I am about to get my face smashed in the “buddy” says….”Let’s go, let the FAG alone” The attacker looked at me and spit in my face and said “Next time fag” They all got into the truck and left.

I guess the question is should I have run inside and called the cops? I can’t afford a cell phone so I couldn’t call from where I was.

I was so darn scared I didn’t know what to do. Please offer suggestions. Thanks.

Did the gas station have a security camera that caught the incident? Absolutley call the police and report the brownshirts running around or else they will over run us all..

If the guy got in your face and spit on you, that right there is assault and battery. Call the cops, and call the gas station and see if they have security tapes. Maybe you can get a license number. If they paid with a credit card, the cops can track them down.

5. I'd have gotten the license number of the truck, gone inside and

called the cops. I'm not sure whether anything would have happened after that -- depends on what the cops would decide to do about it -- but at least there would be a report on file in case anything ever happens again. Chances are it won't, though, because those freeper sorts are fundamentally cowards; they just like to threaten and act tough. If you ever see that truck again, get a license # and trace the owner through your state DMV. It always helps to know who you're dealing with.

In fact, you might still want to report the incident, even though they've gone away. The truck sounds pretty distinctive. Would be good for the police to know about these assholes.

And please let us know what happens.

You did the most important thing perfectly! You got out of the situation without injury! Good job.

That situation showed all the signs of a classic escalating situation and you suvived. You probably did some things that you didn't mention that helped even -maybe you don't realize yourself.

But they were out for trouble and you wisely didn't give it to them. Calling the cops probably wouldn't have been worth it in terms of return on investment.

I would certainly go back to the station and find out if they have cameras.

There have been rednecks as long as there have been people. If it wasn't the Kerry sticker, there would likely have been some other excuse to be an assbag.

There are just some creatures that are threatened by anything or anyone that isn't exactly like they are. It doesn't help matters when you encounter them as a group. Their IQs seem to drop exponentially in relation to their number.

Certainly, a license number would have been nice, even if the police were not a consideration. I would have tracked the guy down, just for reference. Always nice to know who you are dealing with.

the gas station manager/attendant.

The details don't seem to add up.

All you had to do was note the license plate, get the gas station attendant to corroborate, and/or call from the gas station.

I think that shame could curb these little freep bullies.
If you can get the video from the gas station, post it on you tube with a formal legal compliant, it may discourage other idiots from thinking they have the right to intimidate and threaten our political freedom. It is criminal that guys like this are supported by the old Repuke refrain
