Bush keeps revising war justification..Mission Accomplished

By TOM RAUM, Associated Press Writer 21 minutes ago

WASHINGTON -
President Bush keeps revising his explanation for why the U.S. is in
Iraq, moving from narrow military objectives at first to history-of-civilization stakes now. Initially, the rationale was specific: to stop
Saddam Hussein from using what Bush claimed were the Iraqi leader's weapons of mass destruction or from selling them to al-Qaida or other terrorist groups.

But 3 1/2 years later, with no weapons found, still no end in sight and the war a liability for nearly all Republicans on the ballot Nov. 7, the justification has become far broader and now includes the expansive "struggle between good and evil."

1. slapdown
Nice. And it surprises me a little to see such a snarky headline on the piece.
I like this quote particularly if it's really true.
"The more ominous and determined his words, the more skeptical the American public appears, polls show, both on the war itself and over whether it is part of the larger fight against terrorism, as the administration insists.":)

2. No. The first reason was 9/11 and ties to terror
when people realized there was no connection, they switched to WMD's. We're on the 5th or 6th reason for the war by now.

3. but now I'm hearing,
well, we're there now, too late to do anything but finish what's been started. As far as I can tell we'll never be finished and the fukkers that started this crap should be the ones put in detention camps until they realize the error of their ways.

4. A Recent Reminder This Guy Is Nuts....

"You know, one of the hardest parts of my job is to connect Iraq to the war on terror."—Interview with CBS News, Washington D.C., Sept. 6, 2006
