John Kerry Rocks the Granite State (pic heavy)
We deserve leaders who know we have “nothing to fear but fear itself” not politicians who have nothing to offer but fear itself.
-John Kerry, October 13, 2006

One sure way to get a group of Democrats fired up is to start off by recounting the lies of the Bush administration, and last night, Senator John Kerry did just that, delivering an impassioned speech to an energized group of New Hampshire Democrats at the annual Jefferson-Jackson Dinner in Manchester. He wasted no time, starting his speech with a laundry list of Bush lies; about the situation in Iraq, about the Foley scandal, about Clinton and North Korea and about the administration’s dismissal of the latest Iraq civilian body counts.

The packed room was on its feet through much of the speech as Senator Kerry reminded us that we can not give an inch when faced with the inevitable attacks from the right these critical last days before the election.

He spoke of domestic issues, including the outrageous fact that Wal-Mart, run by five of the richest people in the country, can not see fit to provide healthcare for the majority of its workers and about his concern for the state of the economy, despite the Bush administration’s rose-colored rhetoric.

He talked at length about the failures of the administration and about the immorality of their policies. But he also stressed that Democrats, like those running for office in New Hampshire and across the country, have real ideas for putting the country back on track, and helping America be America again.

Watch Senator Kerry deliver this address Sunday night on C-Span’s Road to the White House.

It's too rare to hear a politician telling it like it is; Sen. Kerry did!

Edit to thank you, gv! :hi: You were lucky to be there!

4. It was a great, speech wasn't it?
The crowd was fantastic. The other speakers were very good as well, particularly Paul Hodes.

I'm still in NH, watching 'Iraq for Sale' with a bunch of DUers. Sen Kerry has a call scheduled for later this evening to discuss the film.
You have to see this film. It's almost unbelieveable. I mean, I knew some of what's going on with contracts, but it's stunning to see it all on film.

5. Hehe.
Yes, WEL. The Senator was looking good last evening. As was the very lovely Teresa, who spent a lot of time with us after the speech. We missed you.

It's on Road to the WH tomorrow night. I don't think it's on before then.

14. There is another Kerry speech in Faneuil Hall coming up next month.
Edited on Sat Oct-14-06 11:22 PM by iilana X
I too am sorry to have missed the NH speech, but I'm not going to miss the one next month. November 19th, he's going to be talking about the economy. It should be an interesting speech especially if Dems have taken back the House and (hopefully) the Senate.

13. Watching Senator Kerry deliver that speech was amaizing.

The passion to make our country right again was there, the outrage over the lies and mishandling of the wars in Iraq and Afghanastan was evident and the energy and enthusiasm in the room was exilerating. What a speech and what a night. This is the man this country needs, now!

I am looking forward to catching the speech again on "Road to the White House" tomorrow on C-Span. I definately want to hear this wonderfully moving speech again, it gives me so much hope.

16. And, here's a really great photo taken at an event in Ohio in May.
I heard him speak at Kenyon College's commencement, then again that afternoon at a fundraiser for Ohio candidates. This photo was taken at the fundraiser in Licking County.

27. Yes, very close, because it was a small group in attendance.
I felt very privileged to be there....came across the country to be at the commencement. I'm an ex-Ohio-an who grew up a few miles away from Kenyon.
My sister has a wonderful Republican friend who got us into the fundraiser by
calling the hostess the day before.

28. I didn't know that his aide's name was Marvin!
He was a very personable guy. He was talking to a few of us as Kerry was signing autographs, shaking hands and said that he's learned it's better if he doesn't try to hurry the process along to get Sen. Kerry to his next engagement...better to just let things unfold. He also said he can't keep up with Kerry when they're biking! I believe the woman behind Kerry in this photo is one of his staffers. Anyone recognize her?

I like it, too. Lucky shot, really. The lighting was not great in the room, and most of my pics were OK, but not anything special. That last one, though, I do like very much.
I have a couple lovely pics of Teresa from the dinner. She spent a good bit of time with us, and there's one photo of her in particular I want to share. I'll try to put them up later in the JK forum.

23. I wish C-Span was more specific about the time
He'll be on the "Road to the White House" program, which airs at 6:30, beginning with Rudy Giuliani, then John Kerry. I'd like to skip the Rudy part, but they don't specify when Kerry's speech begins.
