I say we organize this now
instead of sitting around bitching and moaning after several seats are STOLEN this Nov. There needs to be massive nonviolent protests, and I mean MASSIVE at the all-White House and at Capitol Hill if even one election appears to be stolen. No permits, no violence, just lots and lots of concerned Americans. The lessons of Gandhi and the Civil Rights movement have shown us how effective nonviolent action is, and we MUST, as Americans, use it in order to secure our rights and democracy. The same can be said for when Bush signs into law the removal of Habeas Corpus. It is an insult to our freedom that these things might occur, but it is a bigger insult to do NOTHING about it except sit behind a keyboard and bitch about it. If we let the writ die, if we let more elections be stolen, then our complacency makes us as culpable as the bastards who executed it. Come 'on people, this is too damned important to sit idly by and watch it as we grumble! Forget the fact that we might be arrested or beaten! In fact, welcome it! If we have hundreds of thousands at the White House, demanding explanations and retribution, and we do it in a nonviolent manner, any and all actions taken against us will just strengthen our cause! Let us do what the neo-cons have been saying, except we shall do it for real, unite behind the flag! unite behind the country! unite behind the Constitution! and most importantly, unite behind freedom!

1. I'd like to hear your organized game plan to accomplish this.
In the meantime, it might behoove all of us to phone bank, walk, volunteer now and on election day to turn the tide.

4. The best I can come up with is to
meet outside of DC and march in en masse. Spread the word via internet and get thousands upon thousands involved.

5. It's a great idea in theory but
people have to work, get flights, book hotels, etc., were this to happen. It would normally take months to organize something even resembling this. However, if people are pissed off enough, wonders can happen.

8. I have a better solution
You don't have to stop working, you don't have to go in the streets and get arrested.

We simply do a boycott of the Republican contributors I name in my signature.

Tie up their phone lines with phone calls until they get the GOP to annull any stolen elections.

Companies that get phone calls of complaints cannot sell products and also you will not buy their products and you will tell as many people as you can to contact and boycott these Republican contributors.

You continue to go to work, earn money, and call these enablers of the Republican party.

See my signature.

9. Hah! Boycotting those will be a pleasure! And I suggest that
we choose "mom and pop" alternatives to those companies.

12. It can be done, I went to the September 24th March last September in
DC and it was great, but we need millions of people to make an impact. We just have to do it, everyone is key to the idea that they will not relinquish their power, and we have to prove them wrong, that we will sit idly by and just accept this again. Let us prove them wrong, I for one am tired of being used as a doormat.

13. Do you remember how long it took to organize the
march last September? I recall - at least! - spring and summer.

Then, Hurricane Rita hit and she drowned out the march for the most part.

But I'm glad you went and wish I had been there.

10. You know what? I think it's possible. Why can't we just say that
Edited on Sat Oct-14-06 09:35 PM by Texas Explorer
if there are any shenanigans, we'll just simply converge on the Mall in Washington beginning on the 10th, which would give us three days after the election to determine if there has been foul play.

I believe the populace is more savvy to the current political landscape than we give it credit for. If there is any sign the elections may have been manipulated, everyone will know it. That is the cue to make your way to DC any which way you can. You have to work? You must be willing to sacrifice. You must risk losing your job to make a stand because if we lose, you may lose it anyway, along with the home you purchased with an Adjustable Rate Mortgage. You must simply decide that you will not allow your country, and your childrens' future in it, to be stolen from you and from them.

Don't have time to schedule a flight? Drive! Can't get a room in DC? Sleep in Richmond or Baltimore. Can't afford to go? Consider soliciting a ride from someone in your area that is going or convincing a friend or family member to share expenses.

Perhaps we can announce "go time" here on the board and have Kos and C&R, AAR and Randi Rhodes, et al., co-ordinate and decide if it is a go and if it is, we can blast the internet and word should spread like wildfire, maybe even as far as the MSM.

I'll be thinking about this more.

14. That'd be great
As an activist on this issue I would take great pleasure in seeing the masses rise up and go to DC. And it may well happen if say someone like K. Harris wins in Fla.

But I am not gonna count on it happening.

What we can do is this: when results come in and election accountants find serious problems in localized areas or in statewide results, we must be prepared to become the media, and broadcast the info world wide.

We did this to a minor degree in 2004,... in 2006, we can really make a mark. It will galvanize people in cities and counties and state capitols. It would be the precursor of mass local marches, and will laden the press with an overwhelming urge to get the stories published.

Be the media. Be prepared. Organize.

16. A question...
How many people would it take to block off the capitol? As far as I can see on a map, there are 13 roads which would have to be blocked to do this. Of course, the police would show up pretty quickly, but at least it would have to be reported on if the traffic was being blocked.

scare us, well, what I mean that they should not underestimate us, they just ignore us all the time, I would love to see us shake things up.
